Easy Install
I installed this kit on my 2017 YZ450FX. It went on very easy and the instructions are easy to follow. The only thing I didn't like was the fitment of the on/off switch and control switch on my Renthal bars. All the wiring, except for the headlight connections, are terminated and the entire harness is plug and play. I plan on using a Tusk kit for my son's 2014 RMZ450, but run everything off the Tusk rechargeable battery pack.

Will do exactly what they advertise
I have bought three of these now one for xr100 I played one for my buddies wr250 I was cleaning up a terrible install on and one for my personal wr250. Never had a problem with these switches they work great they've gotten wet they've gotten super cold they've gotten dirty they still work. I would definitely take one of these versus two or three of the cheap eBay copies any day because this will Outlast all three of them

Does exactly what I want
Nice switch! Wanted one to clean up my drz bars. I also wanted a switch that could turn headlight off completely. Plastic does seem a bit thin compared to the old switch. Overall very happy with it

Good switch with great value
Switch works as advertised. Really great value when in need of a new or replacement switch. Only downfall of the switch is the clamping bracket. One turn too much on the screw and the bracket will easily crack. BE CAREFUL. Hand tighten only. Overall it fits its purpose.

Does the switch include any additional connectors?
Michael S on Feb 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No extra connectors, It's just what is shown in the photo. Great simple switch though!
Can't get the headlight switch to work with my CRF250X. I've tried every wiring connection I can think of but can't get it to control the headlight. The turn signals and horn work perfectly but the headlight is not working at all.
Any suggestions? FYI the two headlight wires are green and blue. I've tried using both of them as power but nothing works.
Stacey S on Mar 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If I remember correctly, those are the high and low beam outputs from the headlight switch. There should be a (black?) wire that leads to the switch which is for sending power to the headlight switch. You'll need to splice that black wire into the (12v+), AND add a (12v-) ground to the third connector on the headlight. The TUSK wiring can be confusing, because black doesn't always pertain to ground.
Will the HI/LO switch work for LED headlights?
A shopper on May 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Depends on the Wattage of the LED headlight. Generally, LED (Light emitting Diode) lights pull less amps than a standard bulb. W=VA, figure out the watts of the stock bulb, generally 55watts, which, when divided by 12 volts, means a standard 55 watt bulb is pulling 4.58Amps. If your LED bulb pulls below this, you should be good to go. If your LED is pulling more than 4.58Amps, then you may want to consider running a relay to drive the LED headlight. You can use the Low / High beam to control the relay. Be sure to run a resister in line of the switch so as not to burn out the relay or allow too many amps to the LED.
Could this ever work for a yz 450f 2007? if not how else can I power the headlight if I don't have the head light wires to plug in?
Carlos A on Feb 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You'll need an aftermarket stator to provide power to a headlight. The 07 YZ has enough juice for the ignition coil and that's about it. Google yz450 dual sport conversion and that should give you some links to determine if you want to go down that route. It's not cheap.

Alternatively, there are some companies that provide battery powered LED lights that can be made to work if you only need light for a limited amount of time.
Can I wire up the horn button as the kill switch for my dirtbike?
Adam B on Mar 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes although the power supply to the horn button will most definitely need to be cut and then it could be used a kill switch
What gauge wire does this switch use? Are all the wires the same gauge, or do the headlight wires use a larger gauge?
Michael B on Jan 7, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I don't have an exact answer for you but I have used this switch on multiple bikes and the wires are not super tiny like some of the chinese junk that you buy at harbor freight and eBay. It's a good switch and holds up well. I have broken one but it wasn't the switches' fault ; ) (tree)
Can you run the horn directly off the control switch? Or should I install a relay?

Tusk Universal Horn
BEST ANSWER: It can be wired 12v thru switch. It does not require a relay. Doesn't pull much current.
I see others have used the Horn button for the kill switch but wondering if there is anyway to use the Head Light OFF position as the kill switch also?
I think the kill switch circuit just requires a momentary ground, so wondering if the Headlight OFF position can serve the same grounding purpose and still allow me to use the Low and High beam functions.
Michael K on Feb 13, 2019
BEST ANSWER: As the headlight is a completed circuit for both hi and low with power running through them. I think you would run into the issue that you are opening the circuit to kill the lights and not shorting them to ground like the kill switch would be looking for. Hope this helps. I personally use the key that came with my kit to use as a kill switch so to speak.
Hi the 2019 wr 450f only has 2 wires going to the head light will this switch still work ?
A shopper on Nov 17, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes it will , it can function as an on-off switch if you want.
Could the turn signal switch be used for heated grips? IE left = low, middle = OFF, Right = High?
Tim B on Aug 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This will not work for that application.
Will this work with the Polisport headlight?
Frederick B on Mar 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes , I used this in conjunction with my polisport mmx headlight.
Looking for a wiring diagram for this switch, anyone have one?
James B on Aug 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No., I just hard wire it myself
How can I turn two lights on with bright position and one light with
1st position?
Oakley E on Aug 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Oakley;
Just “T” the second light into the main light high beam circuit.
It is possible that you might need a relay also due to current draw of the two lights??

Cheers
