Does the job
Took a couple hours to install, but really easy to get it all installed correctly. Only complaint I have is the mirror and horn is pretty useless. Mirror isn't clear at all and you can't hear the horn over the engine. Otherwise I'm happy with the way the install looks. I didn't use the hand guards to install the front signals either. I modifed them to be installed on each side of my moose headlight. Turned out really well.

Great Purchase
for an average price of $200 these tusk enduro kits are great, you can turn just about any off road vehicle to an on road vehicle. This takes away the loading and unloading. The installation can be pretty custom, but once your done its great to have! Even though there isnt a set for 05 YZ250F, it will still fit just choose the wr250 set

Good Product
Tail light fits better with a YZ fender, but it worked with the WR. Considerable space required on handlebars for switches and such. Had to mount the on switch to the lower center part of the handle bar.
In general, a good all inclusive kit for a very reasonable price.

Enduro kit with high value
Wow what a great kit! Comes with everything you need. I made a few modifications to mine. I went to the hardware store and bought better M to F waterproof connectors and spliced them in. Also when tightening switch fasteners be very careful when torquing. Easily cracked when over tightened.

I have a 2006 WR450F. This already has taillight in place. Do I need to use the one provided or can I use my stock taillight? Also, will my current headlight work with the hi and low beam switch, if so, how do I integrate that? Thanks
A shopper on Jun 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question! the tusk enduro lighting kit is designed to work the your stock headlight. For the question about the rear tail light, it will work but you would have to splice the wires and connect them to your head light while if you use the light provided it will just plug in.
Does this come with installation instructions? If it uses the existing battery, how does it connect to the battery?
James M on Sep 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes it comes with instructions, it connects to the battery just like a battery tender would
You screw the connectors onto the battery positive and negative. Nice kit
Would probably recommend the normal tusk turn signal kit over this handguards turn signal kit.
Does the brake light activate when the front brake is used or just with the rear brake?
A shopper on Feb 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The kit comes with ONE brake light switch which you must install on the brake. You can choose to either put it on the front OR rear brake. Because of this, it will only work with one of the brakes. You can purchase separately another brake switch and install it on the other brake in order to make the brake light activate with either brake.
I have 03 klx400. Can I bypass the on/off switch and go directly to my ignition?
Clay Q on Jul 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The kit runs off the supplied battery and the on off switch is what turns the system off/on so if you are referring to a keyed ignition switch then yes. I didn't use the supplied switch and utilized the OEM Yamaha onnoff switch as it was smaller and already being utilized on the bike.
I want to buy this kit for my 2017 YZ 250 2 stroke. which is technically not an option. so which bike do I buy it for under your options and will it work ? YZ 250fx or 450fx to make it work on a 250 2 stroke. idk if the wiring harness is different on those or not
Dustin P on Sep 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: If you order the kit that comes with the battery pack it should work for the turn signals and tail light. The only issue that I think you might have is the head light. This kit is really meant for bikes that already haves a head light that runs off of the bikes existing charging system. The kits comes with it's own wiring harness for turn signals, break light, and horn. The only time the kit requires getting into the bikes existing harness will be for the head light. I don't think that you will be able to run a head light very long off of the battery that is include with this kit. You will probably need to upgrade your bikes charging system and run the head light off of it. That is the way that this kits is really meant to be run.
How long does the battery last?
Jacob D on Jun 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hello, I can get a ggod couple of days easy with one battery, It helps if you turn it off and on when not on the road. I do carry an extra battery and the charger but have never had to us them. Only issue is that litium battery can't be recharged with the 1994 XR600R stator I have or I would connect them together. Hope this helps. I am pleased with the Tusk system set up.
Do i need a battery? Is IT possible to connect the harness directly from the stator via a regulator?
A shopper on Sep 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have this set up on my kick only wr250f. It came with a battery but I found it to be a hassle taking the seat off, removing the battery and charging it every time I wanted to ride. I figured I'd at least try plugging it into the wire leading to the running light. I plugged it in, kicked it over, and haven't had any trouble in about a year or so since I ditched the battery. My bike has a regulator already, so I just plugged in to the existing wiring system.
Do the Handguards come with all necessary hardware to mount including bar end bolts?
A shopper on Jun 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: They are not “full wrap” style handgaurds and do not connect to the bar end, they are “flag” style and include the hardware required for just that mounting. I attached mine to my existing aluminum wrap around guards with only drilling a few holes.
how do i hook this up to the tusk enduro lighting kit it has only blue black and whit wire from the wire harness provided?

Polisport MMX Headlight
Polisport MMX Headlight
BEST ANSWER: It's been a while since I did the headlite and lighting kit. I did rewire my stator according to a YouTube video ii found online so it would recharge the battery..I also changes the headline bulb to an led to consume less power so the battery never discharged when the motor was running. It was a simple resolder of 2wires. Since the kit has no ground to the chassis as is the way the kit comes, its supposed to run all grounds back to the batrery..so with an aftermarket headline, if you run the ground to the chassis and power to the tiny battery supplied it wont work.. you either need to run the headline ground wire back to the battery or make the entire chassis a ground (like I did) and ground the battery ground wire and the stator and the headlite wire to ground and you will get a complete circuit..hope this help. Rmatv tech line also helped as my headlite wouldnt work either 1st try.
Is the intent for a plate under the rear light? Is there a white plate light there? Is there a recommended plate bracket/holder?
Frank H on Mar 17, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It does have white leds for the plate. I put it on a Honda crf 450x. I made a 1/4” thick plastic plate a little bigger than the license plate to bolt to the fender using flathead bolts and large washers underneath. Then bolted the license plate to that. It’s held up to trail riding well. Could just drill new holes in the plate and bolt directly to the fender, but likely to get bent up a bit.
Does this kit have a plate light and how many watts does it use?
A shopper on Oct 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It has a flat spot below the light to drill holes in to affix the plate to...the rear light has a bottom white light to eliminate the plate
This says that it works with bikes that have existing headlights do I need to buy a kit because my bike does not come with any lights?
Jordan N on Oct 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have this kit and run it directly off of my battery. Providing your bike has a battery, you will be able to do the same. Otherwise, you would have to run it off the stator. Given you don’t have any lighting, you’d need to research the output of your stator to see if it’s sufficient. I had very little electrical experience but was able to successfully install this kit and it’s worked flawlessly
The blinkers won’t flash properly. They stay on a low dim light. How do I get them to work?
A shopper on Mar 24, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Mine worked properly when installed, make sure you are using the negative side of the battery for the "ground" and not grounding to the chassis for the lights and the flasher module, hope this helps!
I have a 2000 KX 250 and it's not listed in the options. Would this kit work for it? Obviously I would need an external battery.
Andrew D on May 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can run this kit off an external battery, i actually ran a rectifier off the stator wires and put a small lead acid battery in my air box, so i dont need to charge and external battery.
Will it work with a 6v system
Like a 80 Honda xl500s ?
Andy R on Jan 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It should be fine. This system runs completely independent of the bike's stock electrical system (or at least it is on mine).
Will these handguards connect to a bark buster or probend guard?
ryan b on Apr 15, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure about the bolt holes but really easy to redrill different holes. Can easily make them fit if the holes are different.
If I buy the kit with the handguard turn signals for a specific bike will the kit include the appropriate large bar mounts for the stock handlebars or will i have to buy the large bar mounts in addition to the kit?
Kevin B on Mar 15, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the brackets that come with it Mount up near the grips. I personally use the aluminum guards that will already on my bike and just mounted the turn signal handguards to that.
Does the brake light Illuminate with either the front and/or rear brake lever or just with the rear brake?
JOSEPH S on Feb 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The kit includes a switch just for the back brake pedal. I am not sure if Rocky Mountain has a switch for the front or not. I installed the kit on a 2007 KTM 300 XC-W. It is a very simple kit. The only issue that I had with the kit was the master switch on the handle bars. Some of the connections in the switch burnt up but Rocky Mountain sent me a new switch no questions asked. Switch that burnt up was only a week old at the time.
I have a 2007 yz450f but that isn't an option on the bike selector. I understand this is a fairly universal kit but I want to make sure there wouldn't be any major issues or differences if I order the same year WR450 kit?
Luke J on Jan 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The kit is very simple to install with great instructions. It should be fine. the only thing I can not answer 100% is the brake light switch? I am assuming all of the Yamaha rear master cylinders are the same so it should fit!
Great Kit You will not be disappointed!
JD
Which product do I need to buy to hook up the optional front brake light switch as seen in the video? all the products I am finding on this site say they are only for the rear brake.

Thanks
Benjamin B on Apr 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You just need to buy another banjo switch it's called for your bike year and model it is the same as the one that goes on your rear brake on the master cylinder and then it has two wires going to you the wiring harness which engages your brake light which in some states you need some states you don't in California I don't believe you have to have a front brake switch but in Nevada you do to be street legal good luck and enjoy my KTM 350 sfx is so much fun to ride on the street!
Hey, I dont see my bike on the list as it is really old. Could someone let me know which bike kit comes with a battery?

Which wrap around bark-busters fit the turn signal plastics? Any pre-drilled and ready to install?
Kyle S on Apr 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Part # 1277800001 im still using the stock ones that come with the kit but these look like the right ones. Not sure if you can get them without the plastics and signals, hope this helped.
No power to headlight wires?although everything else works
matt r on Nov 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Matt, make sure you are grounding back to the battery and not through the frame for the negative side of your headlight circuit, the Tusk system is completely independent of you bikes electrical system and can make the wiring a little tricky!
do i need the killswitch if my bike already has one?
A shopper on Oct 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, unless you customize the wiring, you will need the killswitch. The power to the lights, horn, etc are all run direct to the battery. Without it you will have the brake’s running light on 24/7 in addition to the headlight (unless in off position) which will quickly drain your battery.
I have a 2002 XR250 can I splice into my headlight for power and bypass the battery provided. this way I don't have to worry about charging. ???
Dan W on Aug 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The previous answer is incorrect. You absolutely can tap into the bike's AC power, and I have done it on an XR. I did it with the taillight wire though since the taillight is being replaced by the kit's tail/brake light anyway. The turn signal lights will flicker a bit oddly but they absolutely will work and blink. The only caveat is that the horn will not work because the horn must run off DC power. But it will get you road legal with minimal headaches.
Is this kit plug and play for a 2014 KTM 250 XCF-W or would I need to splice wires?
Shoni S on May 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This kit is a "stand alone" system with a rechargeable battery so you do not have to splice into your existing wiring harness.
Hello everyone I have a 1990 Suzuki DR250. How well would this kit work for me? Both lights work when the bike ( kick only ) is on. Can i run if connected to the stater? There is the mounting position for a battery though. Is it wise to see about electric start? The only switch I have on it is a kill switch. Also the rear fender is angled down hence a 90's bike is there a different fender i can install or can the one provided be a cure all? Has anyone else installed on a bike like mine? Thanks
A shopper on Jul 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Long story short, it will work OK wired to stator but not perfect. If you are wiring in the battery, you will need to get a rectifier/regulator to convert to DC power. Trailtech sells a nice one. Battery can fit either under the seat, in the airbox, or in the toolbag. You basically need to get creative. The battery is very small though. If you are going to wire straight to stator with no battery, it will work fine but the horn will not work as it will be only AC power, and the lights won't be on without the bike running. RM Fender from around that era should work with some slight modification and that should work better as it's more pointed upward.
