For the price it's hard to beat
I bought this one for my x3, I have one put on my wildcat trail and it's held up really good to all of the abuse I've put it through. Used in Moab multiple times...... Ease of installment....Well this is nothing to do with the tusk skid plate it would matter which skid plate you choose....Can am uses pop rivets to secure the factory skid plate .. so you have to drill all of the rivets out to get it off.

Solid product but hard install
So I have yet to take my RZR out since installing the plate but based on the feel of the parts and materials I suspect it's going to do a great job.
I would have given all 5 star rating but the install was a pain. There were several holes that didn't quite line up and took a lot of pulling and tugging and a couple modifications to get it all mounted up.
Other than that I think it's a solid part, not sure it's worth the money but hey it's for a Toy and this stuff is all over priced... just part of the game.

I like it alot. Exactly what I was hoping it covered.
Really nice product. Definitely need a jack to help push it up into place. The only fitment issue I had was that I needed to hog the holes out a little on the factory skid plate washers in order to get the bolt to hit the hole straight and the washer to sit down in the skid plate. Other than that it went right on for my 2019 4 seater

aburdly difficult to install - even with lift and 2 people
a couple bolts didn't line up, so had to strip OEM threads in frame. unbelievably difficult installation. If this was my first Tusk product, I'd never buy another one. I work on GM cars all day, so I know the "pleasure" of reaching under dashes and installing stuff - this thing is worse than anything I've encountered.

Great product. Hassle to install!
Works and looks great. Pain to install ! Some holes line up and some don’t. Was missing parts when it came in. Rocky Mountain did overnight them to me! Did not work with my rock sliders without fabrication of skid plate brackets. Frame brackets are next to impossible to install. Need a better design!

Great product. Disappointing packaging.
This is the second machine I have used the tusk skid plate on. The fitment is great and the product is very durable. One thing I was disappointed in was how it arrived. Packing was destroyed, loose bolts in the box, and the driver handed me a piece of the skid plate that had fallen out of the box while he was bringing it to my front porch. Luckily the skid plate is not fragile by any means.

Would never buy again die to fitment issues
Low rating is for two reasons, the directions are next to useless, its hard to understand what bolts they are talking about and the bolts they picture are different colors than the ones you’ll actually be using. Secondly and most importantly, iis that once I got to the point of fastening the sides I noticed my factory side nerf bars will now not fit properly on the machine. The larger round cutout is far two small and the mating surfaces of the bars are curved to fit the frame, so ill have to take a grinder and cut apart the metal side mount of the skid plate. I have no idea how that detail could of been missed/overlooked and not disclosed.

You decide for yourself
When shopping for a skid plate the biggest reason I came back to Tusk was the price. It was almost $150 cheaper than the competitor and they were very similar at first glance. This skid plate has less pieces to install as compared to the competition. I found that to be more of a pain when trying to install it alone but I felt it would be stronger. As for quality, I think its great. My big complaint is that it didnt come with all the required hardware to install the main piece. Had to wait over a week to get the required brackets that werent even on the parts list but required per the instructions. The team at Rockymountain ATV took care of me but also acknowledged this is an issue with Tusk. Some of the holes on the rear of the main skid didnt line up either. I just re-drilled them. The metal pieces that wrap around the sides of the Rzr to hold the main skid plate on didnt have large enough holes to be able to mount my Polaris rock sliders back on the machine. This was mentioned in the description as a possibility before I purchased. I drilled the holes larger on teh brackets as seen in the picture and it all installed fine. Not sure why they cant just enlarge the holes from the factory as other customers have mentioned the same thing. My other issue is that it doesnt have any drain holes. So if I pull my plugs inside everything will just sit on top of the skid plate. Again, I drilled larger holes directly below my plugs to allow drainage. I also drilled holes to allow access to lube the bearings so I wouldnt have to take my center console out. With all the extra work I had to put into it I think I would of been better off with the competitor version. This seems like a really good skid plate and I have no doubt that it will do its job better than my factory plastic. I just think its geared more towards machines that ride in the desert or rocky conditions versus machines that ride trails and occasionally the mud/river beds only because the lack of drainage. If there is any real maintenance required other than oil changes I will have to take all of it off and then reinstall it versus a panel or two with the competitor's version. These are just different observations I noticed after I purchased/recieved the skid plate and really compared it to my friends from the competitor. Again, you make the call. Price and quality are great and I dont have any hard feelings towards Rockymountain ATV. They are a great company that I will do business with again. See you on the trails!

Can you supply a hardware as I have none?
christopher c on Aug 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Were you missing the hardware when you received the skid plate from us?
how much does it weigh for a 2015 rzr xp 1000?
NATHAN O on Oct 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It weighs about 43 pounds with all the hardware.
Is there a hole to drain the oil? The stock skid plate has a hole to drain the oil, but from the pictures, it looks like there is no drain hole on this skid plate. Am I just not seeing it? I'd hate to have to take it off just to change the oil.
Don R on Oct 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The picture is just generic. this is probably a picture of a different RZR that has the hole somewhere else. this does have a drain hole.
does the skid plate come with all hardware for instillation?
A shopper on Aug 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. I purchased one of the first to hit market and it has everything you need to install. Requires a couple extra holes to be drilled and self tap screws(both included), but mainly uses factory bolt pattern. Much thicker than stock, but I installed alone...
Will this skid plate work with Polaris low profile rock sliders on a 2017 XP1000 4 seater?
Bobby B on Apr 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I don't know if it will work with the rock sliders. The skid plate wraps up from below the side rails (below front/rear doors) and is somewhat designed to act as a rock slide protection. Obviously it doesn't extend up the side as highl as the LP rock sliders. The SP mounting brackets on the sides are bulky so i don't think it will allow you to mount the sliders over. I wonder if you could find a way to use your sliders in lieu of the skid plate brackets. Also, the skid plate has been a great investment. I will say i have a 2016. The front and middle sections bolt right up. I had to do some customizing on the rear piece. They must have changed the motor cage. The bolt pattern was off. I had to drill new holes. Fortunately the section is small. Check with RM atv to see if they have a 2016-2017 SP. good luck.
Has anyone had an issue with the predrilled holes not matching up with the vehicle? Tried to install the skid plate on a 2016 1000 razor 4 seater and not all of the predrilled holes matched up. After several conversations with Rocky Mountain on the location of the holes the skid plate was pulled of and sent back. Rocky mountain checked the hole locations and said the were correctly located.
Rick S on Oct 24, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No issue with mine, but did have to struggle getting it on the frist time. I am sure u did this put when putting the screws in only barely put them in so you have room to adjust it for the other holes. I am sure not much help but trying
I see a machine profile for a "RANGER RZR S4 1000 2019" that this skid fits. Is this machine profile for the "2019 XP 4 TURBO S" ?
I've never heard of a 2019 RZR S4 1000? Polaris doesn't even list this model.
Tim D on Sep 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The Ranger RZR S4 1000 and the Ranger RZR XP Turbo 4 are different models. If you have a 2019 XP 4 Turbo S, we do not have this listed as fitting your machine unfortunately.
ARe these skid plates lighter than aluminum?
A shopper on Nov 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I would think they are slightly heavier, but the question should really be, are they more or less durable? My RZR is not lifted so I can get it into an enclosed trailer, which means my skid plate is used often in the woods to crawl over logs and in the gravel over rocks. It slides over these things easily and never dents, unlike aluminum. I had read the reviews on blogs and almost everyone touted the advantages of this material over metal and from my experience, I would agree that it is durable, slippery over obstacles and for me, light enough.
Has anyone drilled out holes for the floor pan drains or is it a non issue? Seems like you would want to as I always flush sticks, leaves, etc down them. I don't want to ever have to remove it just to clean or change fluids. I know how the bolts get jacked up on skid plates so removing them is a real pita

Does this have all the holes to change oil and access to change the belt holes?
Louis C on Feb 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I have both changed the belt and the oil on my rzr900 trail. I don't remember for sure but I don't think it had a hole to grease the front driveshaft. I drilled a hole in the bottom of 1 of the cup holders even before I installed this skid plate and just plug it with a small plastic plug. Far easier even with the stock skid plate to grease it looking down thru the cup holder then up from the bottom.
Looks like this skid covers just about everything. So I was wondering how are people securing it to their trailers? I currently use the frame underneath just behind front wheels and in front of rear wheels but I think these will be covered. Was thinking of getting some tire bonnets anyway but wondered if there are other options with the skid plate.
KURT W on Oct 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I attach the rear to the "Tusk UTV Rear Bumper, Cargo Rack, & Spare titer carrier" on the rack below the spare tire.

I attach the front to an upper frame channel behind the front shocks.

In AZ the skid plate is extremely beneficial when riding in the desert washes and washed out tails. i would not be without it.
Does this fit with Polaris low profile rock sliders?
SHERI W on Nov 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi Sheri! I don't know, it fits the RZR 1000 Turbo and the 1000 but the side attachments do go over the mounts for the rick sliders, you would have to have both products to see if you could get them to fit. The skid plate works great, I've used it in the rocks and it worked great, I love the protection os gives to my RZR. Sorry for not having the best answer for you question, but like me a lot of this is trial and error, hopefully on the cheaper side of these items.
Does this skid plate require a lot of drilling? I'm looking at getting one for a 2018 XPT and don't want to have to drill into the frame that much.
Lee R on Mar 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I installed mine on my 2015 Polaris RZR4K. Minimal drilling is one reason I purchased this skid pan kit. I off-road in California, Arizona and Utah. This skid plate works awesome. Hope this helps, Tracy.
Does this skid plate wrap up over the front of the lower frame near the firewall/footwell? It looked like it did in the video. If so, will this fit with and footwell/firewall guard plate like the McNasty footwell guards?
Jacob J on Sep 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It does wrap up by the fram, if this interfears with your footwell guards the skid plate can be trimmed or heated to meet your needs. This is a good product that can be modified to meet your specific needs.
Will this skid plate work with the Holz racing nerf bar that use the side body screw to bolt them on to the machine? 2016 XP turbo.
Michelle G on Apr 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I ordered this skid plate and it is the best I can imagine... very straight forward assembly, all the hardware etc... Also it's quite and don;t vibrate like AL. We took it to Rocky trials of Arkansas last week and though it took a beating it did it's job! 5 Stars! As for will it work with other nerf bars etc... This is just as the pictures and covers more than the factory skid plate. so you will have to look at the picture and know how your nerf bars mount.. BUt keep in mind this Skid Plate covers almost the ENTIRE bottom of your machine...
Is this Skid plate only 2 pieces? Our package was destroyed in shipping so want to be sure
CHRIS B on Mar 25, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Probably depends on what model your putting it on. My 2015 rzr900 trail has 3 pieces (1 large middle section, a smaller piece that lap joints to it ahead of the main piece between the a-arms and another small piece lap jointed behind the main between the rear a-arms. plus the hardware to mount it.
will this work with Vendetta rock sliders? 2018 1000XP
Keith L on Jul 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I had the flush polaris rock sliders, i had to drill ne holes and use self taping screws to make it work. I think if you are handy enough you can make anything fit but the skid plate is not rock slider friendly
Has anyone installed this on an Arctic Cat Wildcat? Just curious about fit and finish and how it compares to the stock skid plate (drain plug access and water drainage). Thanks in advance!
Cameron A on Feb 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I didn't have any problems installing mine. Drain lines are pre drilled and spot on location wise. My suggestion is to jack the car up on one side front and back. That will give you easy access to all of your fasteners points. Install your first few screws on each panel loosely. That will allow better joint overlap at each panel as you proceed with installation. Lastly, be careful not to overtorque the screws. I snapped one off, it was tough backing it out. Piece of cake job.
I have already put the Polaris lo profile sliders on. Could I drill and tap this slider in place of using the provided metal side brackets? What would be the size and pitch of the holes to match the provided screws? I really want to make this skid plate work and don't want to waste the low profile Polaris sliders.
Lowell C on Nov 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: If I understand the question correctly, you installed the Polaris metal rock sliders on your XP4, and you want to install this Tusk Quiet-Glide Skid plate too. If so, it sounds like you've already realized that there is a conflict with the brackets of the skid plate and the Polaris rock sliders. I encountered the exact same scenario. The problem with the brackets is actually secondary, the primary issue is the thickness of the quiet-glide skid plate, and the fact that the Polaris Rock sliders wrap around the bottom of the razor. So fashioning an alternative bracket or omitting them all together for the skid plate will not solve the problem. I ended up taking my stock Polaris rock sliders off and going with a completely different rock slider. This solved the problem with skid plate thickness, but not the brackets. The problem I had here was that the rock sliders have to go on before the skid plate, and the skid plate has to go on before the rock sliders. The solution was to drill about an 1 and a 1/4 hole in a couple strategic locations to reach in to secure the necessary bolts that connect to the rock sliders from behind the rock sliders. This worked out perfectly, but did require a lot of thought and of course the loss of my stock rock sliders. I did sell my stock rock sliders so it wasn't a total loss. Unfortunately Rocky Mountain ATV did not have Rock Sliders for my scenario.
