I used these once and they seemed to work well although it makes tire changes slightly more work but I ride in the woods and my wheels get scratched no matter what. Haven't used again because I lost interest in keeping my rims pretty.
This was my first tire change so it may have been bad technique or lack of experience but I found them difficult to use. They were hard to get on, and hard to get back off with the tire pinching them on the bead. They do protect the rim from scratches but eventually I got tired of wrestling them and just went without.
I dont change a lot of tires so I decided to go with these as a cheaper option to the other protectors on this website. After not even 5 minutes of use one of them cracked all the way through the protector. The bulkiness of the protectors also made it hard to even slip onto the rim. I would not recommend this item, just be careful and slide a rag on top of the rim if needs be.
if you have after market, or just nice rims, you'll want these rim savors when swapping out for new rubber, make it easier on yourself and let the tire sit in the sun or warm it up a bit and the rubber will be more plyable.
Bought these to protect a new set of black rims. I bought 4 total and probably should have bought a few more even to just make it easier. They work great and are thick enough to give you the protection but not too thick to hinder getting the bead to roll over the rim. I've tried thin plastic home made ones before and these are way better. They clip nicely to the rim and hold solid. Like i said I bought 4 but after using them I kinda wish i had bought a few more just to make the span of protected area a little larger so i wouldn't have to try and move the ones already on the rim to a place i would need them further down the bead.
It could just be me, but It was hard to get them out from under the tire when I needed to move it. They would get pinched by the tire and it took some real elbow grease to get them out. They did a great job of protecting the rim and keeping them from getting scratched
