I am the father of two boys (14 & 21) that ride motocross and I purchased them each a 6D ATR2 helmet for Christmas. They each had mid priced helmets (in the $300s) that I thought were decent until each kid sustained concussions at the track the summer before. After tons of research it became clear that 6D were regarded as the safest helmets available. This past summer each kid took spills that I thought would have resulted in another concussion. Nope. Each kid said it was like hitting their heads against a pillow. Pulled each helmet apart expecting to find some crushed foam or something that needed attention. Nope. The only damage was to the visor. I know spending $700 on a helmet is hard to palate, but what is your brain worth? I am a huge fan of these helmets and, that is from someone who had never heard of 6D before researching this topic.
The helmet fits great, stays in place when foam is really sweaty, very light. The only complaints I have is that the chin strap is the old fashioned snap instead of being magnetic and the chin bar at the bottom of the helmet sits pretty low. I keep hitting it on my Leatt neck brace. Other than my minor whining, the helmet is great. I would recommend this helmet to anyone.
Crashed hard last week at a indoor supercross style track. I have never hit my head so hard! I even managed to break the visor in several pieces. I had several people come running up to me asking me if I was alright. Asking" is your head ok? I've never seen anyone hit their head that hard" Its 3 days later now and I haven't had a single sign of any head injury. Thank you 6D for making a great product! Worth every penny!!
