The Alpinestars Tech 5 Boots are a rare offering that manages to walk the thin line between price, comfort, and protection. With the Tech 5 you’re getting a newly redesigned motocross boot that falls right in the middle of the Astars lineup for price not far off the Tech 3, but with features normally found on higher end boots like the Tech 7.
For support and protection the Tech 5 covers you with a large layout of TPU impact panels covering the shin, toe box, and ankle areas. You also get a single biomechanical hinge on the medial side of the boot, a trademark feature typically found on much higher priced off road boots. For comfort the Tech 5 supplies you with a breathable inner lining, a longwearing but grippy sole, and a set of new-school self-adjusting buckles that give you a positive lock and plenty of comfort when your foot is buckled in.
With a list of features this long its obvious Alpinestars has taken the Tech 5 to the next level. Get yourself performance, comfort, and protection at a price that won’t leave you broke with the Tech 5 motocross boots from Astars.

I’ve mainly worn alpine stars since I started riding 14 years ago. Everything from Tech 3,7, and 8’s. Never was a fan of the buckles though, as after a long day all I want to do is remove them from my feet. Everybody knows I’m sure the old buckle design is incredibly annoying, and had to be removed with riding gloves still on to avoid ripping a nail off by applying the correct amount of pressure to release the buckles. I had always looked past this annoying feature because of the amazing build quality of the boots, and the comfort level of wearing something that is designed to restrict movement of the ankle and toe box. However the new buckle design, plus the immediate comfort I experienced sliding into these tech 5’s is unprecedented. The tech 5 is now on the level of Gaerne quality and comfort fit. I highly recommend giving these a consideration, especially as a viable option over the more expensive brands like Sidi, Gaerne, and Fox premier line of boots.
These boots are a very good compromise on protection and performance v. price. I have another brand of very high end/professional level boots from another manufacturer. They provide great protection but at the expense of not being able to feel the pegs, shifter, brake, and frame of the bike. The Tech5s have a lot more feel and comfort while still providing an acceptable level of protection. Admittedly, I do not expect that they will last more than a couple of season of hard use.
I tried a number of different boots and ended up with the Alpinestars Tech 5 boots and I really like them. Fit is true to size and easy to get on and off. I have a wider foot and these boots fit me quite well. The buckles are very nice to use. I would buy these again. I would just like if they kept the water out a little better when hitting the mud holes in the spring here in Pennsylvania.
I had a set of Fox Comp 5 boots and will kicking my 450 it took a chunk out of my sole. Well I replaced them with these Alpine star Tech 5 and wow what a difference. Right out of the box comfortable and they are holdingnup really well.
