The Alpinestars Tech 8 RS Boots are a premium option in Astars’ off-road selection and a boot that’s different because it offers modern features in a classically styled MX boot. Of course the most defining feature of the Tech 8 is the old-school stitched sole, but Astars makes it just as capable as an overmolded sole by using dual-density rubber for superior grip and durable polymer for durability that easily holds up to sharp pegs.

The upper uses a combination of flexible, abrasion-resistant material and TPU impact panels that wrap around the toe box, medial side of the foot, and the shin plate. There’s more protection on the rear of the boot from a large heel counter and a TPU glide plate that limits ankle hyperextension. On the inside, protection and comfort come from an inner bootie that supports your ankle by providing a precision fit and promotes ventilation with breathable mesh and synthetic materials.

The ankle has additional padding via replaceable gel inserts that pad the bones of the ankle. A synthetic gaiter makes a tight seal at the top of the boot to keep dirt, mud, and debris out, and everything is locked down by a set of Astars’ "arrowhead" style buckles that are self-cleaning and self-aligning. With Alpinestars putting all these features into one boot, they’ve created one of the best traditionally styled MX boots currently available. And that make the Tech 8 RS one of the best boots for MX racers, enduro riders, or anyone that simply prefers the look and feel of a stitched-sole boot.

Protection

• Inner ankle sleeve constructed from leather with 3D mesh panels, incorporating adjustable shock absorbing gel inserts on the ankles and a removable anatomic footbed for enhanced comfort, fit, and protection on the ankle and lower leg.
• Reinforced lateral flex zone above outward-facing ankle helps prevent torsion.
• Contoured shin plate injected with high modulus polymer for superior impact and abrasion resistance is perforated for ventilation.
• Contoured calf protector plate is injected with high modulus polymer for impact resistance.
• Extended, internal protection plates constructed from injected polymer to guard the ankle and lower foot as well as the toe box area.
• Ankle features perforated soft-comfort padding and adjustable shock absorbing gel inserts on the ankles.
