The Moto-9 Carbon Flex Helmet is Bell’s top of the line off-road helmet, representing the best Bell has to offer in comfort and performance while also incorporating injury prevention technology that’s on the leading edge. This safety tech comes by way of their progressive 3 layer EPS system.
With 3 layers of EPS as opposed to the standard 2 layers, the Carbon Flex can better compensate for low, medium, and high levels of impact by having an EPS layer designed for each. There’s also a limited "slip zone" built into the liner which means impact forces that hit the helmet at an angle will be better distributed throughout the helmet’s energy absorbing materials.
This makes the Carbon Flex one of the most protective helmets available, but it’s also one of the most comfortable because the lightweight carbon fiber shell keeps your neck from fatiguing, the soft interior liner disperses all potential pressure points, and the ventilation scheme is just as solid as the standard Moto-9, even with the additional impact foam layer.
Progressive layering – A first-of-its kind, three-layer impact liner designed to manage energy from three potential impact scenarios: low, mid and high-speed.
Adaptive fit – Segmented construction, automatically conforming to a rider’s head for a better fit and more predictable energy management.
Rotational energy management – A "slip zone" within the impact liner allows for subtle movement between the inner layers and works to reduce rotational energy transfer from angular impacts.

I was looking for a new snowmobile helmet. Purchased a 509 from another vendor and returned it. Here’s why. I have a 5 year old moto-9, the fit is perfect, I can get it on and off my head easily, all padding still good, the shape of the helmet works well with a neck brace. The importance of getting the helmet on and off comes into play not only daily but if you do get injured and your buddies need to get your helmet off. The removable cheek pads are a plus. The helmet outside shape is fairly traditional however it works with a neck brace, allows for good movement, and a compact face piece limits rotational leverage. The rotational design is better than other helmets MIPS with a single plastic layer slip sheet. Color selections/designs are OK, but that’s not why I buy a helmet. For snowmobiling as an active rider the ventilation with a balaclava is fine. Air flow at goggles is great to prevent fogging. For hot moto days the ventilation is perfect. For adventure riding with more pavement I switch to my Shoei Hornet because of wind noise and buffeting. The carbon fiber makes for a really light helmet. Bell quality is noticeable in a side by side comparison. I would recommend since I did buy it again.
Overall great helmet. Seemed to fit tight initially but came to the realization that my prior helmet was just too large. Ventilation seemed to be lacking but the second there was air flowing through the helmet it was perfect and helped keep me cool.
I love my Moto 9 flex. Fits great, looks awesome, and is super good as far as protection is concerned. I've bought 3 of them now, not because they have anything wrong with them, but because of all the cool colors they come in and how worth it they are.
The helmet is definitely the most high quality helmet I have had. I wear a medium helmet in almost all brands. This one as well. But it does squeeze the cheeks and is more tight than the other brands. I wouldn't change the size but something to be aware of. Comes with a nice helmet bag as well. Great purchase!!
Excellent fit with top of the line safety features. Magnetic cheek pads make helmet removal in trauma situations much safer. Bell has been making quality helmets for many years and stays on top of the latest safety technology.
The fit is pretty true to size IMO but it is a little snug getting the helmet on and off, but from there it’s all good. I mostly run %100 goggles and they fit perfect even with a nose guard.
Comfort wise It’s definitely the most comfortable I’ve ever owned. Are there other brands or models that are better? Sure. Because of the three different materials that make it a Flex that doesn’t leave for much room for the lining pad but is still pretty good.
Haven’t done much riding as it’s winter here but the ventilation seems just fine.
This is hands down one of the best helmets on the market if not the best.
Well I’m buying yet another Bell helmet after I saw a new shinny penny at the bottom of a not so sandy wash. Ran out of talent going about 40 or so mph and the helmet took more abuse than Mike Tyson’s face. I’m not sipping my cheese burger through a straw today because of the great product Bell makes.
I’d recommend the flex to anyone who don’t want their face looking like the ogre from the Goonies after gravity has her way with you.
Also, shout out to Bell for their customer service! You guys are on it! I’ll be a customer for life.
This helmet is incredibly lightweight, has quick release cheek pads, (held in magnetically), magnetic chin strap,( if you so choose to need it). Overall, well built helmet. Again, lightweight, yet you can tell quality went into manufacturing.
