    Details

For protection that goes beyond what a standard roost deflector can provide, the EVS Youth Comp Suit is going to have full-torso protection that’s great for track riding, trail riding, and even cross training if your child spends time on a mountain bike. The differences of the Youth Comp are easy to see when you compare it with other types of rider protection.

First off, everything is built on a highly ventilated mesh chassis that flows a very large amount of air and works well in hot weather. And while it would seem like this base layer would make the suit hard to put on, there’s actually an entry zipper along the side of the chest that runs down the suit’s entire length. So putting the Youth Comp Suit on is significantly easier than a pullover deflector because it’ll actually slip on just like a coat or jacket. Once your child is wearing it, you’ll appreciate just how much impact protection it really has.

Hard plastic panels are found on the chest and shoulders like most deflectors, but the Youth Comp also has hard protection on both the elbow and forearm—protection you simply don’t get from stand-alone chest protectors. There’s above-average protection on the back as well from a segmented spine protector that reaches from the top of the shoulder blades down to the small of the back where impact foam extends over the kidneys. This level of impact mitigation is hard to beat, and with the suit’s neck brace compatibility tossed in, the EVS Youth Comp Suit stands as one of the most protective roost deflectors that’s currently offered for kids.

      Specs:
    • Ultra-lightweight all-in-one upper body protector
    • Side zip design allows for full roost protection
    • Hard plastic chest, back, arm and shoulder protection
    • Full torso and elbow protection
    • Full articulating spine protection that moves with you
    • Lightweight cool ballistic fabric with mesh stretch panels for superior fit
    • Neck brace compatible
    • Easy on and off design
    • Note: The Youth Comp Suit does not include the following features:
      - Removable arms
      - Built in compression belt

    Comfortable protection.
Offers great protection under a riding jersey. My son never complains about its comfort. It has roots, back, shoulder, arm, and elbow protection. Its zipper allows for easy on and off. Great product.

Good fit, great protection, good price.
My son originally tried on the Fox version of this, which I went to purchase until I saw this EVS suit for $20 less.

The functionality is about the same as the Fox, though this one does not have a kidney belt. The fit is also about the same, I bought a Medium for my son who is 54", and the fit seems spot on. He could fill it out a little bit still, he's on the skinnier side, but it's by no means baggy. If anything I was expecting it to be bigger on him and it wasn't.

The EVS has a side zip, they do this so the breast plate is solid and not a zip like Fox, which I view as a plus, and was concerned with my son being able to side zip himself. It was remarkably easy for him, but I'll wait to see in time if it becomes problematic.

He took a fall recently with the jacket on and no issues, no tears, cracks, did it's job and is good for more riding

Wondering how small this is ? Wanting it for a 5 year old boy. He is about 44 inches tall growing fast though and just about 40 pounds
    ryan c on Oct 3, 2016
    BEST ANSWER: Ryan,
I purchased 4 of these for my kids.
Getting a small for your boy should fit him just right with a little room to grow.
My boys have used these for the past two years and they have been a great product.
    Hopes this helps.
Would you use this under or over the shirt ?
    Kathleen H on Dec 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: My son wears his under his riding jersey and wears a light t-shirt under the compression suit itself. You don't need the outer jersey but would recommend an under layer.
