The Leatt GPX 5.5 V10 Helmet redefines head and neck protection. A company renowned for safety gear, Leatt has finally released its own off-road helmet. Rather than stick the Leatt name onto a design that is similar to existing ATV or motorcycle helmets, the GPX series of helmets adds innovative new protective features. But of course, would you expect anything less from Leatt?

The GPX 5.5 helmet features a composite matrix shell with an innovative V-Foam EPS (expanded polystyrene) liner enhances the helmet's protection while keeping it smaller than competitors. The smaller shell size allows the Leatt helmet to attain new levels of lightness – an important feature for a helmet as it both increases the rider's comfort but also decreases the rotational energy delivered to the head and brain in a crash.

Leatt has introduced other cutting-edge features as well. For example, the 360° Turbine technology offers two important helmet protective measures. It allows the helmet to absorb more force from a low-energy impact, but it also combats rotational energy as well. In fact, one of the ways that the Leatt GPX helmet line sets itself apart from other ATV and dirt bike helmets is the reduction of rotational acceleration.

Of course, Leatt has also taken great care to design a helmet with comfort in mind in addition to safety. That's why the GPX helmet features an impressive ventilation system with an innovative design that allows for great airflow. The helmet is also built to accommodate other great Leatt gear, including the legendary Leatt neck brace as well as hydration packs.

There are no doubts about it. If you are looking for a helmet that features the latest safety technology in an attractive and comfortable package, the Leatt GPX 5.5 helmet is for you.
  • 360° Turbine Technology
    - Up to 30% reduction of head impact at concussion level
    - Up to 40% reduction of rotational acceleration to head and brain
    - Improves multiple-impact protection
  • Reduced Outer Shell Volume
    - A smaller helmet shell reduces forces transferred to the neck
    - A 10% smaller shell transfers up to 20% less rotational forces to the head & brain
  • 3D In-Molded V-Foam
    - Multi density V-shaped impact foam molded to the outer shell
    - Significantly reduces G-forces transferred to the head & brain
    - Increased absorption, slimmer and a stiffer structure than a normal helmet foam
  • Optimal Neck Brace Compatibility
    - Specially designed helmet features and shape to take full advantage of the Leatt neck brace design
    - Rear hyperextension impact platform with neck brace optimized shape
  • Quattro Force Control
    - Composite matrix reduced outer volume shell in 3 sizes
    - 3D in-molded V-Foam for maximum energy absorption
    - 360° Turbine Technology for concussion level impact protection
    - 360° Turbine Technology for reduction of rotational acceleration
  • Maximized Ventilation
    - Effective even at very low speeds
    - Optimized for off-road racing
  • Visor with breakaway function for rotational reduction in a crash
  • Low friction cheek pads for emergency removal
  • Hydration ready
  • Moisture-wicking, breathable, antimicrobial and washable liner
  • DOT and ECE certified

Nice helmet!!
The initial fit and feel of this helmet is awesome. It’s a very comfortable feel without break in. I wear a medium in Shoei and Fox helmets and the medium Leatt also fits great in a medium but I think it is more comfortable than the Fox V3 or the V4 I had previously. It is light weight but I haven’t weighed it on a scale against the V3. The venting works.

Best value Helmet i could find without compromise.
After a big 5th gear off and a broken collar bone later, I needed to replace my trusty old lid.

Many hours of research later(I had plenty of time sitting around in a sling) It came down to industry leading protection and ventilation, I ride in 30 plus degree heat (90 degrees Fahrenheit) in the north of Australia.

The leatt GPX5.5 helmets ticked all these boxes.

I found this lid heavily discounted on close out, thank you Rocky Mountain, it was delivered to OZ in under a week. (For all you Aussies the total price delivered in 5 days to my door was $470 AUD, the fed ex postage Rocky Mountain offer is more than reasonable.)

My research on these helmets suggested the later models of this brand are better suited to a more oval head shape like mine, the earlier models have the bluish coloured liner. Pretty sure this is a 2018 model it has a black and grey liner. I can say the fit is true to size and perfect for me with no pressure points anywhere.
My 100% goggles fit perfectly.

The fit and finish of this helmet is top quality, all credit to Leatt for producing a great product.

Its really noticeable how much smaller this lid is compared to others I've owned.. Size large weighed in at 1336 grams on my scales.

Thanks Rocky Mountain for all your great reviews and info, the price delivered for me was unbeatable.
Cant wait to get it dirty.

Third Leatt Helmet - Always Improving
Purchased this as a backup helmet to my original Leatt 6.5 carbon. Same light weight and venting but Leatt improved he comfort with much better interanl padding on the newer line. Composite option comes in a bit cheaper and I could not tell a difference in the slight weight increase, recommended!

An excellent light weight, comfortable and very well ventilated helmet.
I have tried most all the major helmet makers helmets over the past years and this Leatt is the one that I have bought more than once. I crashed hard enough in my last Leatt 5.5 that I had to replace it. It did it’s job and was more than pleased with the protection. This helmet flows more air than any other helmet I have tried. You can actually feel the air flowing over your head. That combined with the light weight makes this a perfect helmet for warmer temperatures.

My head measures 22-1/8". If I order the Medium is it possible to purchase "Small" liner or cheek pads to customize the fit?
Mike B on Mar 27, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Mike, the liner is not interchangeable between the Small and Medium helmets since they are different shell sizes. We do offer different thickness in the cheek pads if needed. I would recommend going with the Medium helmet and switching to a thicker cheek pad if necessary. The Medium will come with a 58mm cheek pad, and we offer two other sizes - 48mm and 63mm to customize your fit.
