Details

Mobius isn’t new to making great knee braces but after seven years of research, development, and prototyping they created the X8, one of the most advanced knee braces to date and one of the best-selling premium options we carry.

Built on a lightweight frame of glass reinforced nylon, the X8 is designed in a way that gives full, overlapping coverage from the bottom of your shin to the middle of your thigh. And at the same time you get protection against rotation, hyper-extension, and bending that can cause severe injury.

Another key to the X8’s performance is the Continuous Cable Routing System (CCRS), a closure system that securely and comfortably holds the brace in place and also provides reliable tension and a repeatable amount of pressure on the front and rear of your knee, whether your knee is extended or bent.
  • Sold in pairs, (Left & Right)

    Protection
  • Overlapping patella area with zero degree CNC Forged 6061-T6 anodized aluminum stop leaves no gap exposed regardless of how far the knee is bent
  • Lightweight PIM glass filled Nylon shell conforms to your legs shape creating 360° of protection that won’t rotate or slip
  • Plush molded EVA foam and impact absorbing rubber internal padding

    Comfort
  • The CCRS (Continuous Cable Routing System) adjusts the fit with a simple turn of the locking CNC Forged 6061-T6 anodized aluminum dial
  • The Figure-8 cable and behind the knee adjustment pad greatly strengthen the joint yet work as freely as your body’s own ligament system. (Patent Pending)
  • CNC Forged 6061-T6 anodized aluminum hinge plates
  • One of the most comfortable braces ever designed
  • Velcro Straps with TPR pull tabs numbered in order to provide proper fitment and easy entry and exit

    Sizing
  • Measure 6 inches (15.24cm) up the thigh from the center point of the knee cap, then measure the diameter (circumference) of the thigh

Great braces.
Love them! They are pretty comfy even after 8 hours of riding. Ive had a few good crashes in them and o injuries. I've hit all kinds of rocks and trees with them as well as my own bike and not one issue. Complete coverage of your knee lower thigh and shin all the way into your boot. It gives you alot of confidence knowing that you are protected that well. I wear compression sleeves when i wear them and have no rubbing issues. They are a little hot...but who isnt when ripping? As long as you tighten them right they dont slide down. It also takes a little trial and error to get the pad size just right. I'm running the mediums. Only issue ive had was with the straps separating. It didnt affect performance and mobius sent me new straps for free.

Solid Knee Brace
I got these a couple years ago and wear them every time I ride. I like them because I feel not only am I getting some protection in the form of hyper-extension and ligament protection, but also from impact. They are pretty easy to get on overall, but do take a few extra minutes. The velcro straps get caught in the liners on my pants and tend to loosen up while I'm riding and I don't really notice until I'm done and there are some pressure points on the back of the knee, but nothing terrible. Maybe I'm not wearing them right or they aren't fitted well to my legs, but overall they are good. They seem like one of the best to buy off the shelf though without custom fitment.

Amazing Knee brace
I'm using these for about two years and they're the best knee brace I ever had.
So confortable that when I'm riding I forget about it.

I’ve had these for a couple years. They’re pretty comfortable and honestly may be more comfortable than not wearing them.

I’ve fallen a lot and they keep my leg safe in combination with Sidi Crossfire boots. The combo gives me protection from the foot all the way up to the thigh which is right where a bike likes to fall on you in the event of a tip over.

I also have knee pain issues and the brace helps reduce that a lot.

Use them for hare scrambles. They are rather warm and take a few rides to get used to. Great fit and protection.

How do u know what size to get?
kory p on Sep 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Measure 6 inches (15.24cm) up the thigh from the center point of the knee cap, then measure the diameter (circumference) of the thigh.

X-Small........ 15" - 17" (38cm - 43cm)
Small.......... 17" – 19" (43cm – 48cm)
Medium......... 19" – 21" (48cm – 53cm)
Large.......... 21" – 23" (53cm – 58cm)
X-Large........ 23" - 25" (58cm - 63cm)
Will I need to get a larger boot to fit these braces? Or will my original size work?
A shopper on Jan 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They should fit with your current boots. They sit on the knee and do not come in contact with your boots. I highly recommend them. I haven't had another pair of braces before but I've used these about 20 different times, full day rides. They are comfortable and have been holding up well, look and work as good as new. Very good protection... I ride desert and dunes. Flew off a rocky cliff and into a canyon and walked away with no leg damage!! Great product.
They don't look too breathable. No big deal in winter/fall has anyone rode with them in summer?
Can anyone compare these braces with the
Evs axis?
JOSEPH M on Feb 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have used these in the summer and they are not to bad. Have brace socks that I use with them. No real complaints. Protection for the knees. Fantastic
What do they weigh? ( Large size )
Vadzim D on Feb 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Together they way approximately 5 pounds.
Does this come with both right and left knee braces?
AUSTIN on Aug 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I checked into this for you and these are sold in pairs.
Is the extra small size the same exact build as the larger sizes?
THOMAS H on Feb 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We purchased the med. So I can't say 100% but the quality and design should be the same. Most importantly you should know that we purchased ours very early on and the cable & design has been redesigned to make it more durable. My dealings with the company have been extremely positive. They have been an outstanding in a areas of customer service and warranty. We could not be happier with the company or the braces. We have other braces but none protect the knee better. They are super snug initially and should be. Give it time and they will break in and provide great support.
I hope this helps.
I have unbearable chafing with every brace I've tried. I've tried sleeves, skin lube, you name it. They actually cut into my tendons above the back side of my knee. Looking at pictures of the X8 it appears the #2 strap has quite a bit of padding that may alleviate this. Has anyone had an issue? I hate to buy another torture device.
Todd A on Mar 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Todd, I bought my braces a little over a year ago. I don’t have an ACL in my left knee...go figure. Haha. Anyways I suit up a little diff then avg person but I first pull on a pair of knee high Moose Safari riding socks, then I wear a pair of athletic soft braces from Bauerfeind on each knee. ( the extra support seems to help my left knee) . These are more compression then rigid support . Over all this I wear Troy Lee Designs 5705 Hot Weather pants. Then come the knee braces. And I have had zero chafing . I race a lot of Sprint Enduros and Harescrambles so I am on the bike for sometimes as long as 90 minutes with no problems. Could be the extra padding under all this but it seems to work. I know it sounds really hot but I ride in Texas and in the late spring and summer your sweating the minute you walk your bike outa the garage so don’t really consider that an issue. Hope this helps or at least gives you an idea on how to combat it.
I have in between measurements, should I go size bigger or smaller?
A shopper on Jun 29, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Size bigger, strap them tight. Based on center width of knee joint, don't want to go too small.
when I put on the once I just got they are pinching the outsides of my kneecaps really bad has anyone else had this issue? The rest of the brace fits very well do you think a size up will be to big or do you think that will fix it?
Zach G on Nov 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I was unable to get the braces to fit even moderately comfortably. I ended up having to return them. My legs are not of typical shape for athletic males, having large thighs, moderate sized knees and thin calves.

Based on your question, I would expect a larger size will give room in the patella but become too large above and below
Can anyone recommend off-road pants that work with these braces? I have Klim Dakar pants, and they are a very tight fit.
Michael A on Jul 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Your pants should be fine with these braces. I race moto and like tighter pants and the braces have fit great never have had issues with mobility. If you still want something with some extra room I'd recommend going to your local shop trying on different pants on with the braces and seeing what works. It'd be the best way to find the right fit and then go to Rocky Mountain and order the color/style you want, amazing service and fast shipping.
Do these come with brace sleeves?
Mitch L on Feb 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The Mobius X8 knee braces do not come with sleeves but they are available from Rocky Mountain. Now that I have a few years into my braces I just where knee high socks and no sleeves, they are that comfortable!

My thigh circumference on my right thigh is 19 in but my left 19.5 inch. Should I go with small size or medium?
Neil E on Sep 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I would say contact Mobius and ask them they could probably send you two different sizes they are great I have called a few times and they have great support
Will these fit inside a pair of Klim Mojave in the boot pants size 34? I have about a hand width spare (i can stick hand width straight out from my knee cap) in the knee cap area but these look really bulky!
A shopper on Jul 14, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I’m not sure about your pants in a size 34 but, I have no issue with my Malcolm Smith pants in a size 32.

I love these knee braces, once they’re in place I don’t even know that I have them on!

The only other suggestion I could offer is to call Klim.
Do these qualify for a HSA payment?
Aaron M on Dec 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes they do. I filed and was reimbursed for mine. I did have a note from my doctor advising me to wear knee braces to prevent knee injury that I sent in with the reimbursement claim. A simple email from the doc is all they needed to suffice a “prescription”.
has anyone had the trouble that the pants get caught with the middle of the knee brace? any suggestions?
Diego G on Aug 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I've had these for over a year now and love them. I've had no problems with them getting caught in my pants or any mobility issues. I like my pants to be tighter and the hinges still have never gotten caught or given any problems. These braces have saved me many times and have held up after some hard crashes. I would highly recommend möbius to anyone best braces out there especially for the price!!
I am interested in the Mobius X8 knee brace, I am a tall rider 6'5" skinny legs and have a knee width of 4.5 in and based on the size chart I would need a XL to fit my knee width but my thigh measurement at the 6" mark from the center of the need is 20". I think the tendon back plate would bottom out on XL brace before it got snug on my thigh. Is there a strap kit that would work with my thigh measurement and the XL brace. I currently running a Large EVS Axis Pro brace and looking for an upgrade?
GEORGE K on Apr 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: You need a large or medium. I got large n they are a little on the big side. Also tall and skinny. Rocky mountians super good about returns tho
600$ for a pair or for just one brace?
A shopper on Feb 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: For the pair.
$599 for the pair, not each leg?
A shopper on Jan 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the price is for the pair.
How do you measure the knee to determine the size of these knee braces?
Micky D on Feb 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You will need to measure 6 inches up the thigh from the center point of the knee cap, then measure the diameter (circumference) of the thigh. Once you have your measurements refer to the sizing chart in the product details for proper sizing.
21" thigh, medium or large?
Mark B on Jul 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I would recommend going with a smaller size if you are on the low end of the measurement/sizing. These will also come with different thickness of pads so you can adjust them to fit snug and comfortably.
Is this price of 599.95 for both left and right brace?
A shopper on Feb 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, these are sold in pairs.
