POD is so confident in the strength of the Unbreakable K8 frames that they back it up with an industry leading 5yr warranty.

The intensity of modern sport places the human knee at significant risk which is why POD developed their own Synthetic Ligaments™ to reduce the strain on yours.

Inspired by the human body, POD’s patented Human Motion® technology uses the power of Synthetic Ligaments™ engineered from Vectran Fibres™ (5x stronger than steel) to provide progressive, multidirectional motion control.

The New POD Hinge Housing provides smooth contact surface against your knee avoiding abrasion and delivering new levels of comfort, performance & reliability.

CE impact tested & certified – full coverage guards protect against impacts, handlebar strikes, plus enhance comfort when kneeling.

The impact guards are easily removable to convert the brace for multi-sport use.

The Adaptive Cuffs were designed to conform to various leg shapes, while adapting to muscle movement. They accommodate muscle motion and disperse load reducing the risk of skeletal fractures.

The knee is one of the largest and most complex joints in the body, with three large bones held together by four ligaments that are vital for joint stability and proper function – Because of that reason, the K8 Knee Brace Unbreakable has been certified as a medical device to help prevent leg and knee injuries such as ACL, MCL, PCL, LCL, Rotary and Combined instabilities.

Antimicrobial Frame liners enhance comfort, reduce odor, plus capture the interior straps and clips to anchor the brace to your leg, and stop brace migration during your ride.

The brand new Quick-Loc System & low profile interior straps anchor the brace to your leg quicker and easier than ever. No more waste of time before a ride!

A well-made piece of safety gear
I've been considering getting knee braces for a couple of years. Some other purchase always too precedence, but I recently had a close encounter of the boulder kind and narrowly missed screwing up my knee. So, I decided to finally spend the money where it mattered.

I researched many braces over the years and settled on the Pod K8s. When the 2.0 version came out a little while ago, that just made the decision easier.

The finish on these things is good, the fit is also good as long as you order the right size AND take your time fitting them to your leg. The adjustable padding on the inside of the hinges is especially important to get right, not too tight, but not too loose.

I would also recommend you wear these over some sort of thin base layer, or maybe Pod's own knee sleeve. I made the mistake of wearing these directly on my leg and I got some pretty bad chafing from the straps right behind my knees. With a thin layer (Under Armour heat gear), they fit great and the skin stays happy.

I don't know how these protect the various injuries they claim to protect from, the only one I can definitely vouch for is hyper extension. Side to side and twist injuries are hard to test, so I just assume the braces will do their job. They do feel pretty solid, but it all comes down to how well they're secured to your legs I think.

The only lack of protection I notice is on the upper sides of the knees where the plastic guard doesn't cover the knee. I can see landing on an elongated, sharp rock, and having that squeeze in through the opening. Probably highly unlikely, but possible.

I've worn these on several rides and overall I'm happy with them. I do forget I have them on once I'm warmed up, but you know you're wearing them when walking around or if you start to chafe somewhere. Still, I'll take some skin abrasion over a destroyed knee.

If you're thinking of buying them, buy them.

Highly Recommend
after doing a bunch of research on braces i decided to get the k8s, i was hesitant on buying any sort of knee brace in fear of it being so big and bulky, not being able to grip the bike at all. I was shocked at how slim and comfortable these were when i first put them on, they fit under my pants perfect and i NEVER noticed them while riding unless i focused on them. they are a bit pricey but very much worth it.

Top Notch
I bought these braces after a nasty spill riding woods during a race. Strained MCL, torn miniscus, and dislocated patella. I was wearing alpinestar fluid pro knee braces. My physical therapist said it was quite impressive i did the damage i did with them on.

That being said, i knew i had to upgrade and i wanted the best. These braces seemed to fit the bill. I poured over quite a few videos before ordering these.

I actually did get my dr to write me a script, but the only POD provider in the USA is "out of network" so i would be out of pocket to pay for them. I just bought them outright.

Measuring for the size is a bit of a pain and like others have said, i was right on the line of medium/large. I am 6'4" and 220lbs. I went with the large and they fit great.

I have worn them two times riding now and really have zero complaints. They don't slide down. They don't prevent me from doing anything on my dirtbike at all. I did spring for the knee brace sleeves from POD, which would have been nice to been included, but it is what it is. My knee felt secure in the brace and there was zero issues pulling my pants on over them.

Frontal knee cap protection is a bit lacking in my opinion, but there is enough there i don't feel unprotected.

Overall, 5/5 on purchase. They are pricey, but so are doctors appointments and surgery's.

Finally found the perfect fit for my legs!
Took me a while to finally found the brand and size that fit me perfectly. I have large thighs and thin caves and my knee are slightly inward. The problem I have is that a Medium size would usually be too tight around the knee and a large size would be tool large for my thighs. I added more money to get a pair of these but at the end it worked out perfectly straight out of the box. Lightest knee pads I've tried and it feels like I'm not wearing anything (minus the pressure of the straps). Awesome looking and super solid.

The only thing I'd change are the straps. They're a little confusing at first as you can adjust the pressure on both sides. It's a little painful to use but when you adjust the straps from the inside you don't have to do it anymore. You can just lock/unlock the straps from the outside pretty quickly.

I got a pair of Large

Great set of braces!
Bought these a couple weeks back and have had a couple rides with them. They fit fairly true to size. I measured right in the middle of a medium and a large with a knee width of 4.5" and a circumference of 14.10" and decided to go with the larges per Pods recommendation to go a size up when right in the middle of sizes. I'm glad I did. I actually found that just the pads with no shim were too loose and the pads with both shims in were to tight....so I'm just using a shim on the outside of each brace (checked with pod....just fine to do that) to get the perfect fit.

The rides with the braces have been great. Don't feel it while I'm on the trails and have rode for hours with zero discomfort.

I will say that although my insurance did say that I could have these covered, I found zero doctors that would write a script for it. Checked with my PCP and an ortho I went to a year ago for a torn MCL (no brace at the time) and neither of them would write a script without a current injury regardless of past injuries. I guess if you got hurt, you could get one written for a pair, but at that point, I'd just get a custom fit brace instead of an off the shelf.

Anyway, good set of braces if you have the money to spend and want to try and avoid some injuries down the road. Priced a little high, so It'll be interesting to see if they update the K4 to a 2.0 and that would be a much better value.

Are these one of the braces chase talks about that some insurance plans might cover?
TRAVIS K on Dec 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is.
If my knee measures 14 3/4” would I need a large or XL?
Andrew P on May 13, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I was in between a M and an S, I tried both and went with sizing down, it felt more protective and gave my knee more stability.
How much do they weigh?
A shopper on Sep 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: 1.5 lbs for each brace
I'm curious to know how these fit with riding boots. From the looks of the brace, it goes down low enough on your leg to interfere with a riding boot. I'm 5'10" and the top of my size 8 boots are only about 4" from my knee cap. I can't see how a knee guard would fit with them. Brace inside boot? Brace over boot? My surgeon had no problem writing a scrip for the boots, but I don't want to buy if they won't work with boots. Thanks for input from anyone who's done this!
Jeremy T on Apr 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: If you only have 4" of clearance then these would go inside the boots. We do have a fitment guarantee and would be happy to have you purchase the item and test fit them. If you do not like them then we will cover return shipping and send you a replacement at no cost. We cover the first replacement. After that it is your responsibility to pay for return shipping on any additional exchanges.

I am 5'2 and I am wondering if these will be too long...anyone my height have these?
Alan S on Mar 30, 2019

How do you know that the synthetic legiment is worn out and time to replace? Id hate to have it wear and fail.
Kyle A on Mar 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: According to Pod, when checking your ligament you need to lock out the brace and make sure the two screws are visible through the hinge housing. Refer to their video via the link below, for more details.
