In the world of adventure based motorcycle helmets, the Suomy MX Tourer is known for being a super-lightweight, premium option that punches above its price point.

The MX Tourer’s main feature is the light 2.7 pound weight that’s possible because of the carbon Kevlar composite shell that is both DOT and ECE certified. This light weight doesn’t just increase comfort by sitting lightly on your head, with less mass there’s also less inertia to transfer into your neck and head if you go down.

Combine the light weight with an optically clear visor, flip down internal sun shade, and ventilation that’s very similar to an offroad motocross helmet and it’s not hard to see why the Suomy MX Tourer Helmet is a good choice for both street and off-road rides.

    Specs:
  • One of the lightest dual sport helmets available
  • Ventilation performs similarly to off-road motocross helmets
  • Lightweight 2.7 pound weight prevents fatigue and promotes comfort while worn
  • Tricarboco Shell – revolutionary Carbon Kevlar composite produces the lightest most durable shell on the market.
  • Internal drop down, Light Smoke Visor – reduces the need for sunglasses or changing shields from day to night use.
  • Excellent for street for and off-road / adventure riding
  • Wind tested Peak Visor reduces wind buffeting by 50% over traditional peak visors.
  • Thermo formed face shield – optically clear, durable, permanent anti-fog & anti-scratch coating.
  • DOT Approved & ECE 22.05 Certified.

    Sizing:
  • For proper fit and size measure the circumference of your head 1" above your eyebrows and around the largest portion of the back of your head.

Overall nice adventure helmet
Nice adventure helmet. The good- light weight looks nice. Quality seems good. The bad - can’t close vents. It looks like rivets for the chin strap brackets are visible on side of helmet which makes me wonder about possible corrosion from the elements.

Not that big of improvement over my street helmet
Let me first preface this review with the fact that this is my first adventure/dual-sport helmet, so this is somewhat of a review on ADV helmets in general. Nothing was wrong with my street helmet but I read about how the adventure helmets were supposed to offer a wider field of view, allow you to use goggles, be more lightweight, have a sun visor, etc. Well, after wearing this for about a month and at least 600 miles, I'm not impressed. Sure it's a little lighter, that's why I got this one. But the visor catches the wind something fierce at highway speeds. My neck was sore after riding for a while. On long rides I have to take off the visor, which is time consuming because you have to use a little tool and remove 4 screws. Another problem with using an ADV helmet in general is that when you turn your head sideways at highway speeds it catches the wind more than a street helmet. And the shield is not as round so it's not quite as optically perfect. Also there are not very many choices for aftermarket shields with this helmet. I removed the shield and tried to use some goggles I bought and they barely fit in there, squished my nose so much I couldn't breath out my nose. When removing the shield on this helmet, I noticed the pivot corners were already gouging into the helmet and removed paint and left nasty scratch marks on the shield. This is hidden from view but it seems like a defect. The built-in shades work okay but it's hard getting used to because the lower side of the lens is always in view, unlike the smoke lens I put on my street helmet.

Have had several suomy buckets and appreciate the value and comfort.
Lightweight helmet, European and DOT ratings. Fitment runs small by about 1 full size. Tinted flip down inner shield is nice on bright dusty trails. Clear visor removal could be more simple and lining connector tabs tend to come undone.

Drastic size issues
I normally wear an XL helmet. Shoei, HJC, ONeal ... pretty much every helmet I have tried, an XL is correct. Reviews said this runs "a little small" so I went XXL ... I could not get my head IN this helmet. All labels, liner tags everything said XL ... if this thing was as big as a medium, I would be shocked. Rocky Mountain took care of me with a return with no issues, but this helmet is not sized properly at all.

Top notch helmet
I struggle with neck pain so for the last few years I've used the Mx tourer. It is one of the lightest helmets and has excellent construction. I've always wondered why you would spend so much for a helmet when you can buy them for $100. The answer is because they are worth it! Highly recomend this product. I've tried other helmets however Suomy makes the best one in my opinion. Tested on my Ktm 690 enduro R and 1190 adventure R. The flip down shade is such a nice feature. Makes it so simple to transition from bright to low light conditions on the fly. Shop with confidence at Rocky Mountain. They have excellent customer service.

Best bang for your buck ADV helmet
Awesome helmet, super light, great ventilation. Helmet fits a lot like an Arai. A little bit louder then some helmets but for the quality and price, i'll wear ear plugs

Light helmet with great features
I tried some of the less expensive models first and this helmet is much better than anything else i've found. Really light weight and great features like the flip down sun shad and adjustable vents.

My only complaints are that i'm a size large in a sumoy dirt bike helmet and an extra large with this helmet. Seems odd i have to go a size up. I also wish i could buy some different size cheek pads, but they don't seem to be available in the U.S.

My Daily Driver Helmet
After 38+ years riding and working in this industry, I have owned numerous helmets by many quality manufacturers over the years, but this is what has become my daily driver. It is extremely light and comfortable, and I love the combo of the sun visor (removable if desired); and the internal drop down shield which means no sunglasses required. I have used it on on everything from my 2007 VFR800, DL650, DRZ400 and even my Hodaka Road Toad. It breathes well enough, but in slow tight Dual Sport riding, I feel the need to slightly crack the shield to prevent fogging.
