Tourmaster’s new Sonora Air 2.0 Mesh Jacket is a 3-season, warm-weather option that’s been updated with new styling and better airflow—giving the jacket the ability to remain completely capable while still being priced in the low two hundreds. Big updates for the new 2.0 start with a style that Tourmaster has totally revamped. The jacket is still that great three-quarter length, but the mesh has been changed to a much better looking, tighter-weave mesh, the fit has had the fat trimmed off so the jacket doesn’t have such a baggy fit, the external padding that used to be on the shoulders and elbows is now gone, and the overall style has been refined so the jacket now looks much more mature and refined.
Performance is just as good as always. Abrasion resistance is still great for a mesh jacket thanks to heavy-denier Carbolex and Armor-Link mesh that make up the base of the jacket, and there are still extra reinforcement panels covering impact prone areas. Even with this redesign, reflectivity is still spread across the jacket, and there are several points of very good fit adjustment in all the spots you would hope they’d be—something typically found on more expensive jackets.
Inside you’re protected from weather with a nicely done AquaTherm liner that has both a waterproof and thermal liner (they can be separated from each other). And of course Tourmaster gives you new, softer, CE-rated armor at the shoulders and elbows along with a triple-density back pad that you can upgrade. The original Sonora Air was a great jacket, but with all this refinement packed into the Sonora Air 2.0, the new jacket places itself as one of the best 3-quarter length jackets under 300 dollars. And that makes it perfect for everyone from tourers on a Triumph Tiger, to off-road adventurers on a KTM 690 Enduro.
