A.R.C. Battle Born Adventure Jacket

Price: $199.99

The A.R.C. Battle Born Adventure Jacket is a hard value to beat. For just under $200, you’re getting a premium-level blend of protection, durability, and technicality.

It starts with the armor. CE rated armor is incorporated in the shoulders and elbows, along with a removable back protector for extra versatility. That protection meets durability with the jacket’s 600D polyester shell with ballistic poly fabric in the shoulder area. Thoughtful technicalities like removable waterproof and thermal liners, four external cargo pocks and one internal pocket, and a 2-liter hydration pouch are worked through the jacket, making it as convenient as it is capable.

At this point, you’re probably wondering how a jacket with this many features is available at such a low price point. We’re confident in the A.R.C. Battle Born Adventure jacket and able to keep it so affordable because we designed it right here at Rocky Mountain ATV/MC. We’re adventure riders through and through, and the Battle Born gear is a hallmark of our riding experience.

REV’IT Offtrack Jacket

Price: $439.99

It’s a step up in price, but REV’IT’s Offtrack jacket boasts a few distinguishable features that set it apart from A.R.C.’s Battle Born.

One feature we’ve noticed is how well the Offtrack jacket vents. The jacket has no shortage of REV’IT’s 3D air mesh vents, a knitted fabric with an open 3-deimensional structure to ensure good ventilation. There are large panels on the front of the jacket that go all the way around the back, along with massive zippered vent panels in the chest and forearm. You can even remove the jacket’s waterproof and thermal liner to further increase the airflow. Even with those liners in, though, the jacket is still extremely breathable, offering significant and direct airflow to the body. This adds to the Offtrack’s versatility, making it especially capable in warm weather.

Other features of the jacket include REV’IT’s SEEFLEX Level 2 CE protection in the shoulder and elbows, in addition to the SEESOFT CE-Level 1 chest protector insert and CE-Level 2 back protector insert. Pockets in the chest and back of the jacket add a convenience factor, while the 600D polyester shell construction adds some durability.

Maybe not a justification for the price increase but certainly a feature worth mentioning, the Offtrack jacket has a noticeable European cut – tighter and shorter. That said, any really tall riders or taller riders in-between sizes should consider sizing up. Some people like having the extra width anyway, and the increased length really makes it all worth it.

Klim Latitude Jacket

Price: $649.99 – $679.99

Much like the Offtrack jacket, the Latitude comes in a tighter, more formed fit with less excess fabric. This makes the jacket an excellent option for touring, but doesn’t exclude it from any other type of riding. A wide array of features and technicalities qualify Klim’s Latitude for even some of the harshest off-road ADV riding and justify its premium price tag.

One such feature is the jacket’s GORE-TEX performance shell. With laminated construction and two-layer configuration, the GORE-TEX is guaranteed to keep you dry and guaranteed for life. The shell is all the jacket comes with, though; there are no other liners, so you’re responsible for your own base layers. But with 840D Cordura laminate in the high abrasion zones and goat leather in the high-flex areas like elbows and shoulders, the shell is really all you need.

Of course that’s not all the jacket has to offer. Another stand-out feature is the Latitude’s fully integrated armor system. D3O T5 EVO XT armor is packed into the shoulders and elbows, along with more CE Level 1 armor in the back, hips, and knees to provide coverage around the board. In addition to the KLIMATEK cooling fabric, multiple ventilation ports, and extensive five external pockets, the Latitude is capable in all aspects.

Klim Badlands Pro Jacket

Price: $999.99 – $1,029.99

Klim’s premium offering, the Badlands Pro jacket, builds on the features of the Latitude to create the last jacket you’ll ever need. Designed to take you around the world and back, the Badlands Pro is the ultimate in technicality and performance.

Most everything that can be found in the Klim Latitude jacket is loaded into the Badlands Pro, with a few upgrades. The two-layer laminated construction of the Latitude becomes a three-layer construction in the Badlands Pro, with the same GORE-TEX that is guaranteed to keep you dry and guaranteed to last for life. According to Klim, that extra layer improves the shell’s durability exponentially, and increases its breathability by 25%.

Another factor in the jacket’s durability and distinction between the Latitude is the incorporation of Superfabric. The custom-engineered, variable-density, extreme abrasion resistant panels are placed strategically throughout the jacket’s high wear zones. Karbonite ripstop panels complement the Superfabic to completely reinforce the jacket.

For protection, the Badlands Pro features Klim’s custom Aero Pro D3O armor in the shoulders and elbows, along with a Viper Pro pad for the back. These pieces boast more coverage, more breathability, and an upgraded CE Level 2 certification. The Badlands Pro also comes with a kidney belt that keeps the jacket secured in place and supports some of its weight.

There’s more to the Badlands Pro jacket than that, so check out the product spotlight video for the full scoop on this innovative piece of gear.
