Congratulations to Rocky Mountain ATV/MC rider Blake Baggett for his 2nd place finish at Indianapolis. It was an impressive ride from start to finish and, with four podiums in the bag, Baggett proves that there is still plenty of racing left to be had this season. Baggett is still 5th in points standings, but gained some ground on Roczen in 4th place.

Baggett came off a great weekend in Daytona, earning a 4th place finish after securing a solid start and being the first rider to launch off the tricky wall jump. He gelled with the difficult Ricky Carmichael Signature Design Track in Florida, and added to that momentum by flying down the track in Indianapolis.

Baggett qualified in seventh for the night, landing him the the fourth gate pick in the second heat race. Qualifying just under a second and a half slower than the top qualifier, Joey Savatgy, Baggett had some time to make up in his heat race and the upcoming main event.

Off the gate, Baggett took the holeshot. Cooper Webb and Zach Osborne were close behind, but Osborne went down, making room for Savatgy to move up to third place. Baggett held down the faster, inside line for a few laps, but it wasn’t enough to hold off Webb and Savatgy. Both riders made a pass on Baggett, sending him back to 3rd place where he finished the race. It was clear Baggett had the speed, but would have to put in the work for the main event.

As the gates dropped on the main event, Baggett was third off the line, chasing after Marvin Musquin in 1st place. Around the first corner, however, Savatgy and Eli Tomac made their way around him. Cooper Webb made his way around, too, pushing Baggett back to 5th place. Baggett wasn’t fading though – he held onto 5th, waiting to capitalize on any mistake. His chance came when Webb stalled his bike and Savatgy over jumped the finish line jump, and Baggett pushed his way into 3rd place. His charge wasn’t done until he passed Tomac in 2nd. He held onto the position, gaining time on Musquin in 1st place. Baggett was less than a second behind Musquin with a minute to go, but finished the race in 2nd place.

Baggett’s been burning up the East Coast, especially with impressive charges like the one we saw tonight. We’re looking forward to another great weekend in Seattle!
