Jay Clark’s newest project bike shows us the truth in the old adage that “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” After picking up a worn-out CRF250R from an ex-racer who had the bike in pieces, Jay decided to give this bike a whole new identity. The result was a major facelift that took this motorcycle from a tired and worn race bike to a big bore CRF270R-X that had been transformed to dominate off-road and provide the rider with hours of fuel-injected fun out on the trail.

Most bikes can be turned into off-road machines with a few modifications here and there, but Jay wanted to take this motorcycle to the limits. So he went all out and decked it out with all the bells and whistles. Take a look at this video to see just what he did to this CRF to turn it into an off-road beast.

When the build was all finished, Jay let David Pingree at Racer X take it out for a spin to see how it performed. Ping brought his film crew along for the ride. Check it out!

Renthal TwinRing Sprocket and Primary Drive RDO O-Ring Chain A Renthal TwinRing rear sprocket paired up with a Primary Drive 520 RDO O-ring chain ensures durable quality and a long drive chain life.

Motion Pro Overflow Bottle and Race Tech Tuned Suspension Adding a Motion Pro overflow bottle can help in an overheating situation. Race Tech also freshened up the suspension for a nice, soft setup.

Tusk Shift Lever The Tusk Shift Lever is a great inexpensive replacement for stock and the Cylinder Works kit looks just like stock.

Works Connection Radiator Braces and CV4 Hose Kit Works Connection Radiator Braces were added to keep the radiator safe in the case of a bad drop. The CV4 hose kit gives the bike a pretty cool look as well.

Weld for Cycra Skid Plate While the engine was out, we buffed and sanded the frame and welded a tab for the Cycra skid plate for quick on and off install when doing oil changes.

Hinson Clutch Cover and FMF Megabomb Header The engine looks almost too good to go abuse on the trail with the Hinson Clutch Cover and Megabomb Header front and center, but that won’t stop us.

FMF Q4 S/A Silencer The Q4 silencer sounded great out on the ride. It was quiet and gave awesome performance.

Dunlop 803 Trials Tire and Tusk Impact Wheel Dunlop’s 803 Trials Tire works in a wide range of terrain. We love it for off-road riding, and we usually run 8-9 psi in it. The Tusk Impact wheel set not only looks great but is proven to be durable. The 18” rear makes the bike better for off-road applications.

Pro Moto Billet Kick-It Stand and IMS Footpegs A ProMoto Billet Kick-It Stand is great for the trail and fits like it is stock. The Works Connection pegs are a great addition for added traction on the ride.
