Buyers Guide - MX Helmets

Motocross Helmets

Motocross helmets provide the ultimate in off-road racing headgear. Designed for the rigors of motocross, these helmets appeal to everyone from professional racers to casual trail riders. Why? Quite simply, there’s no such thing as too much protection when it comes to your head – especially when you’re riding an off-road powerhouse.

So what really separates a high-end motocross helmet from the rest? Traditional helmet testing is held to strict standards, but it is wholly inadequate when considering the accidents that are faced in actual environments. While most helmets provide sufficient protection from direct impacts, most accidents actually involve an angular impact, resulting in rotational energy being transferred directly to the brain, leading to head trauma. High-end motocross helmets consider this in their engineering, helping to reduce to energy transfer to the brain by absorbing it using proven technology. Furthermore, when a helmet must be removed by emergency personnel after an accident, motocross helmets often have removable cheek pads to ease removal and reduce the likelihood of further injury.

But there is more to motocross helmets than listing off safety features or DOT/Snell certifications. The tightknit feeling that the MX community has established has created a unique flair and culture not duplicated anywhere else. As a result, these helmets display a visual appearance that blends the raw energy and refined focus characteristic of the sport.

Of course, everyone has their own style, and that’s why you’ll find literally hundreds of options to choose from. When it comes to motocross helmets, you’ve got to discover something that fits your personal expression as well as it fits your head. Will you find one here that fulfills both requirements? Yes, you will.

You can’t neglect the increased comfort built in motocross helmets. Demanded by the sport’s finest, these helmets are designed to improve airflow, keeping the helmet interior as cool as possible during long days at the track and through several motos. Today’s helmets are also often equipped with anti-bacterial lining to provide an odorless interior and comfortable fit.

Every helmet is designed with advanced features to enhance the MX experience. Read the product description to find out exactly what is included to make sure you get the attributes you’re looking for.

The next time you hop on your dirt bike at the track, make sure you’re sporting a new motocross helmet. There’s nothing better to feel great, boost your confidence and intimidate your competition than by looking like you mean business – because you do. Check out our incredible selection now and pick out the helmet that matches who you are as a rider.

    I finally bought a new helmet, and I'm so happy I b...

I bought this Fly F2 Carbon on a Rocky Mountain super low closeout special price that had me wondering just how good it was going to be once it arrived. Three days after ordering, the helmet arrived and I have to say this helmet would be worth every penny of the normal price, and is a steal at the close out price. The F2 is very light weight, comfortable, and has a really nice finish. Head size is right on per the measuring instructions. The cheek pads are thick so they push against your cheeks, but once you start riding you don't notice it, or maybe the pads compress. Not sure, I just know I never thought about the helmet during the ride, which means I wasn't distracted by it as the result of some ill conceived design feature. This is a great helmet at an unbelievable price.

    Disappointed in RMATV!!

Visor cracked where it mounts to the helmet (after 1 use) and RMATV does not have access to replacements. Helmet is now worthless. Thanks for the @ronniemac special Rocky Mountain!! Think carefully when purchasing a helmet from RMATV!!
