Motocross helmets provide the ultimate in off-road racing headgear. Designed for the rigors of motocross, these helmets appeal to everyone from professional racers to casual trail riders. Why? Quite simply, there’s no such thing as too much protection when it comes to your head – especially when you’re riding an off-road powerhouse.
So what really separates a high-end motocross helmet from the rest? Traditional helmet testing is held to strict standards, but it is wholly inadequate when considering the accidents that are faced in actual environments. While most helmets provide sufficient protection from direct impacts, most accidents actually involve an angular impact, resulting in rotational energy being transferred directly to the brain, leading to head trauma. High-end motocross helmets consider this in their engineering, helping to reduce to energy transfer to the brain by absorbing it using proven technology. Furthermore, when a helmet must be removed by emergency personnel after an accident, motocross helmets often have removable cheek pads to ease removal and reduce the likelihood of further injury.
But there is more to motocross helmets than listing off safety features or DOT/Snell certifications. The tightknit feeling that the MX community has established has created a unique flair and culture not duplicated anywhere else. As a result, these helmets display a visual appearance that blends the raw energy and refined focus characteristic of the sport.

To start, this is the same exact helmet as my brother's Fly brand helmet. Made in the same Chinese factory no doubt. The helmet looks great and I wanted to like it but: the visor distorts your vision, so Ive been using goggles. It has no easy way of removing the face shield, first you need to remove the visor, then remove screws to get the shield off, oh, and there are plastic washers that are easy to loose so don't plan on riding somewhere and then switching to goggles. Its really loud, waay too much wind noise, and its not aerodynamic so your head will get pushed around in the wind on the freeway. The visor is too small to be useful, and it doesn't drop down far enough to even see it while the helmet is on. It runs a size big, I'm normally a large but would need a medium in this, also the pads aren't very soft. I dont recommend it.Read All Reviews

This helmet is comfortable and light. Using the sizing chart it recommended a size L which was too tight. I had the opportunity to try both the L and XL sizes before purchasing. If your head is right at the upper end of size L I would recommend going with XL.Read All Reviews

Amazing fit. Out of the box it wasn't as comfortable as my Moto9 , but after a short ride the Moto Flex9 felt like it was custom made for my head. My old helmet felt like antiquated technology after using the Flex. I thought my old helmet fit good, but this is just a whole new level that is hard to describe. The pice is pretty steep, but I've long said a helmet that would protect better in low and high speed crashes was long overdue. I hope the price drops soon, as I plan to outfit my whole family. The only drawback the I found was my face was very close to the front of the chin bar. Not a huge issue, but it might make it difficult to use some hydration pack mouth pieces.Read All Reviews

Really like this helmet. I had the XD3 and when it came time to replace had to get another Arai. The fit is so comfortable and it is light. I used the size chart and it was right on. The XD4 has better ventilation in my opinion. I feel very safe in the helmet. Yes, the price was a struggle to get by but it's your head. The only thing I could complain about is the plastic air ducts on the top. I have not done it but could see breaking these going under and hitting a tree branch. All in all money well spent.Read All Reviews
