  • Galfer SKW Oversize Rotor Kit

    Galfer SKW Oversize Rotor Kit

Bought this for my drz400s after i converted to sm rims. I rode around with the stock rotor for alittle while but as i got alittle more comfortable and riding more aggressive the stock brakes weren't cutting it. I went with this over the more expensive 320mm conversion from like motostana or other websites for 3 reasons. 1) this rotor was around half the price as the cheapest 320mm kit i could find. 2)i still take my sm on some pretty brutal trails from time to time and the bigger rotor is more likely to get hit my something and bend or brake. Not to mention to much front brake offroad cant be a bad thing. 3)Im nottrack riding or anything wild enough that a 270 front rotor wouldn't be adequate. The total bike rider weight is under 450lbs, topspeed is like 90mph and thumpers engine brake like crazy.

    Brakes that work

**KLR 650 Owners LOOK no further** Hey guys, @dirkbike here. Have you been reading the KLR forums, trying to figure out how to get your front brake to work? Don't get sold by the eagle mike fan boys and spend hundreds on the SV caliper conversion and mods, it's not worth it. It would be interesting to see actual data regarding the increased stopping power, but I'd guess it's somewhere between 30-50%. It's night and day difference bolting this on. I've had to emergency brake in sudden dead stop freeway traffic, with a fully loaded KLR, to the point I was questioning if I was going to stop in time or dart off into the emergency lane and hope to god all works out- not a fun feeling or scenario to be in. I know with out a doubt, I would have darted off into the shoulder and gravel if not for this. It's one thing to pull off into the shoulder in a car, but another on a two wheeled machine that slips out under braking and gravel, which is typically what you find on the shoulder. I would recommend this as one of the must have's on the KLR if you're more than just an occasional rider.

    Great rotor

I almost went with an oversized rotor set up but for half the cost with this rotor & the EBC Carbon X pads I’m happy with it! Gives the rear end better control when braking & a better feel over stock. They could have designed the rotor a little better to fit the hub cleanly. But overall a good purchase. I’d buy this rotor again when it’s needed.
