With the massive popularity and excellent customer feedback on the original Bighorn, Maxxis has taken the opportunity to create the Bighorn 2.0, a lighter-weight version of the Bighorn that retains all the performance, utility, and versatility of the original.

The 2.0 keeps the same non-directional tread pattern that makes it great on most every type of terrain, and you’re still getting robust radial construction. So the 2.0 retains excellent durability.

The big difference with the Bighorn 2.0 is that weight has been decreased (weight savings will differ by tire size) by making each tread bar a little slimmer and a little shallower versus the original. But Maxxis did it right, because the tire still hooks up well, making the Bighorn 2.0 ideal for weight conscious riders and smaller displacement machines.

    Specs:
  • Lightweight version of the original Bighorn
  • Radial construction
  • 6-ply rating on all tires except the 27x9-12 tire it is a 4-ply.
  • Maintains smooth ride quality for increased comfort
  • Same non-directional tread pattern on original Bighorn
  • Suitable for desert, dirt and rock terrain
  • Excellent durability on the trail

Bought as a spare to match stock tires. Works great.
I always worry about how these Big Horns will do on sharp rocky terrain. And then I go blaze through a bunch of sharp, rocky terrain time after time with no issues.

Never popped one, never dropped a bead, nothing. I'd say they have proven themselves to me. Another great Maxxis product.

Maxxis Bighorn 2 tires are awesome. We ride trails that are muddy and rocky always feel like I have control of the side by side. I highly recommend these tires.

Great tire and last forever. I spend a lot of time in the hard stuff, rocks and gravel and they wear like iron. Strong side walls that hard to tear up

Bighorn 2.0
These are supposed to be the light weight alternative to the original Bighorn. I bought two of these to match two of the existing ones on my Grizzly.

So far they have offered excellent performance during hunting, ATV'ng and snow plowing. I feel that the pavement work (plowing) may be negatively affecting the tread life but I still foresee getting many years of service from them.

What is the speed index for this tire?
A shopper on Aug 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Maxxis actually does not have a speed rating for these tires.
I've read reviews that say this tire, although the correct size, rubs the rear shock. How can this be if it is the correct "factory" size?
A shopper on Oct 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Manufacturers order tires to their specifications and many times the size runs small compared to aftermarket tires even though both have the same size printed on the sidewall.
Maxxis Bighorn aftermarket tires generally run on the large side of the specification.
Stock tires on Polaris Sportsman 570sp are 26x8x14 & 26x10x14. Wil the 26x9x14 and 26x11x14 pose any fit problem s for this machine?
Brad S on Apr 14, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I think the issue may be the rim width, which is the middle number. You can change the first number without issue but the last two need to be the same. Best tire tho'. Raced bighorns for four years.
How much does the 27x9x14 and the 27x11x14 Big Horn 2.0 weigh?
A shopper on Dec 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: 27x9x14 = 27.4 lbs
27x11x14 = 27.9 lbs

I am considering Maxxis Big Horn 2.0 tires for my Yamaha Wolvering R-spec with STI HD6 alloy wheels 12x7
Front: 26x9x12
Rear: 26x11x12
Will the rear tire (at 11" wide) fit the 7" wide STI wheel without any problems?
Frank B on Sep 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes it should b fine i have ran them in stock wheels had no problem on narrow wheels
I have a Yamaha Rhino with Bighorn 2.0's now with considerable wear from the past owner. I do a fair amount of driving on pavement ( about 5 -10 miles each weekend ) going to trails in Northern WI. Once on the trails they consist of Fire Roads, loose dirt, sand and some mud. I am considering buying the same Big Horn tires but am concerned they wont last with all the pavement driving we do.
How do they hold up on pavement ? I'm I better off considering a tire geared more toward hard pack like a Tusk Terra-bite ?
David P on Sep 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have them 2017 Can Am Outlander 570 for two years now and about 500 miles on them and they still look like new. Yes the front edges on the rear tires have rounded a very small amount but I also do a lot of road driving. I loved them on the rocky and tree rooted trails in Maine where I ride. They are great at hi speed on the roads too because they are silky smooth with no vibration. I dont do much mud riding but they few times I have they have been great.
Are these radial tires? The Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 in a 27X11.00R14
melodie j on Aug 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The name of the product literally says "Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 RADIAL TIRE"
Will the maxxis big horn 2 work as a spare tire on the 2017 can am x3rs turbo?
Belinda B on Apr 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: If bighorns are what come on the 3xrs from factory you can match the 2.0 size for a front tire and be fine. I would advise going to the can am web site verify the specs sheet. You will be good for sure buying a matching front tire size in the same brand.
What’s the normal wear on each tire?
Ben H on Mar 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I assume that you are asking about tire life. On our light weight quads, we have 3K miles and they look like they will last probably another 3-4K. On our heavier UTV they were pretty chewed up at about 3.5K. Quads are ridden in Colorado. UTV is ridden on sharper edged rocks in Arizona.
Looking to buy a spare tire. Which size will fit both front and rear?
Jonathan L on Aug 25, 2019
BEST ANSWER: For what machine?

Steve A on Dec 26, 2017

A shopper on Jun 8, 2018

My Polaris ranger 570 tire size is 25-11-12. Will the 26-11-12 still fit?
Cody M on Apr 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It’ll fit, the only time you will notice any difference is when you’re going through a bunch of rocks and your clearance changes... it’ll run a little more than usual but not very often. They are amazing tires.
What's the weight of the 29 inch Bighorn 2.0 vs. the 29 inch original Bighorns?
Robert H on Aug 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The weight of the 2.0 is less than the originals but weight varies by tires sizes.

Comparing the Maxxis Bighorn Vs. the Bighorn 2.0 weight can only be done with these matching sizes**

Why are the Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 on my 2016 Yamaha viking showing only 2 ply for the front and 4 ply for the rear and the Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 that you can by via retailers showing 6 ply? Did Maxxis make a lower ply tire specifically for Yamaha?
MassiveOverkill on Mar 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the tires that come on the machine from the manufacture are of a different compound and specifically shipped to the manufactures to put on new machines. The tires we carry are a better compound and heavier ply rating.
