Best desert tires
These are some of the hardest tires for fast desert racing out there, the price was un matchable, they look great.
Wear very well, My application is for use in Odessa Washington for the Stump Jumpers MC D-100 first weekend in April, 50th anniversary.
See ya there

AZ deserts and high country
I have about 50 hours and 1300 miles on the rear tire with the center knobbies looking worn out. It works well most places in the desert; it's particularly good in sand and have even used when new at the Glamis sand dunes with good results. The knobbies did get chewed up pretty bad riding in very tight, rocky trails in Flagstaff AZ towards the end of the tires life. The side and center knobs both got many large cuts all the way through with some side ones ripped clean off. I don't think other tires would have fared any better so I will most likely be purchasing another one soon.

Best tire if you live in the desert.
I run this on my yz125 and yz250 and this is one of the best tires ive ever ran, I live in Nevada desert so we got some nasty rocks, and with over 80 hours of hard desert riding and racing, these tires are still looking good with some wear. These tires even find really good traction in lose sand, and wet rocks, mud and grass!

Long tread life but very hard tire
Bought front and rear for my KTM 525exc in rocky/hard pack areas and light dual sport rides. Good traction, very little wear after 30+ hours of use. The rear end hops a little on hard braking, seems a bit unsettled but good grab on front and acceleration. Stable tires that seem very rugged. Overall happy with these tires

tires that last
this is the only tire that I will buy for the rocky rooty conditions that I ride in.they definetly outlast at least three other brands that I have tried.

Love this tire!
I’ve always ran the Desert IT on all my bikes. I race up in the So Cal high deserts and these hold up to all the elements. Yea a little pricey but worth the ride.

Excellent tire
Wow 1300 miles off desert sand and rocks. What more can you say.

Put another one on and already having fun.

Maybe a little expensive, but last a long time. So are they really?

Great traction and awesome breaking.
Three rides on my KTM 250 and side lugs are starting to split at the carcass. Guess it could be the Arizona rocks. My Motoz on my 690 are still fine. When these are trashed I’ll try a motoz.

Toughest tire
I always use these tires because they last forever compared to other tires. Its hard for me to say how they compare traction wise to other models, but if you are looking for something that will last a longer this is the way to go.

The best all around tire
Love this tire it has lasted several seasons with a few amateur attempts at desert racing. It worked great in every type of environment I’ve put it in, even wears well with intermediate asphalt use. Moved to Washington this year and it dosnt work as well in the wet Forrest as it did in the Utah deserts but wet roots and rocks are slippery no matter what tire your using. I’m sold on the desert it for the price and life / performance you’ll get there’s nothing better.

I live in Arizona. All different types of terrain from soft sand, hard pack, to rocky trails. What tire pressure is most recommend for these conditions?
Devin O on Aug 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This tire has a stiff carcass and stiff sidewalls and is outstanding for rocky desert terrain and only adequate for sand. For Arizona general desert trail riding where getting flats is the main issue I would use a super heavy duty tube at 12psi. If you are racing or riding fast then you will need to use 14-15psi. The bump absorption won't be very good from the tire but it will resist pinch flats from rocks. I recommend you use a tubliss system or a mousse. With the tubliss you can lower the pressure down to 8-10psi which will make the ride softer but not so low as to make the tire wallow around on hard pack.
DOT?
A shopper on Jul 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This tire is not DOT rated.
Will this tire work tubless?
A shopper on Jun 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If you are talking about the Tubliss system, then yes it works fine for that system. Tubliss just needs a good bead which almost any tire will work for. If you are referring to some other type of Tubeless system I don't know! Hope that helps!
will a 120/100/18 maxis Desert IT fit a 2018 Wr250R that has 120/80/18?
Alex S on Jun 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I believe that it will. I think that's what my bike is. And it's simply a bit wider. Makes it harder to mount, but gives you more tire underneath you.
Is this a good tire for riding in Mesquite Nevada type terrain?
A shopper on Nov 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I rode the Las Vegas-Nelson-Searchlight areas for a few years , washes, rocky hard pack and sharp rocks and the desert IT REAR is a great all around tire. It’s very strong, had great traction and wears well.
As far as the front, I have never tried one.
I have a 17 kx450 and it said a 120-90-19 would fit but it rubs the swing arm and basically doesn’t fit.. help please?
Dyllon B on Jan 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Stock specs for your bike are 120-80-19, I have not had a kx but I have used the Maxis 120-90-19 on a 16 yz450f and a 15 ktm 350 sxf with no issue. There is not a huge difference between the two but the 90 is a little wider.
Is this a good tire for New England rocks roots ?
A shopper on Mar 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Not sure about New England, but it is the best I've found for Central Texas rocks and roots. Very good wear, great traction in wet or dry conditions. I moved from great dirt in Louisiana to Centex 3 years ago and have been running this tire for 2 years now. I do fast flowy stuff and gnarly Graham Jarvis stuff.
Will the 120/90-19 fit a '01 CR250? Is it overkill, I just like fat tires.
Peter P on Nov 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Depends on your style of riding. I have an 05 CR 250 that I prefer to run the 110 width because I can spin it up faster. Loose dirt, desert racing and mountain riding.
Can I please get a rear one?
Luke M on Aug 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I would be happy to help. What size are you needing?
Is this the Maxcross or the Desert IT? They are two different tires.
James M on Jan 22, 2020
BEST ANSWER: This is the Maxxcross Desert Intermediate tire. It is just the Maxxcross version of Desert Intermediate.
Placed an order a week ago, originally said would be back in stock May 20. Now it states they’ll be in stock June 14, three more weeks? Would have gone somewhere else for these.
