MT-21 review
The MT-21 was the OEM tire. I tried Dunlop 606 which are great tires as well, a little longer tread life. I'm scared of a flat in cold weather with the 606. the sidewalls are so stiff I'd have a difficult time changing a tube on the trail whereas the MT-21 spoons on much easier even in cold weather.

The MT-21 like all knobbies is very loud when on the road. Great traction on single track to forest service roads. I'll keep using it even with the shorter trad life.

Good Tire!
Feels pretty stable on the pavement for a 10 - 90 tire. Went on pretty easy also. Haven't had a chance to take it in the mud yet but definitely looks aggressive enough.

Awsome Front tire
I use this upfront and D606 in rear got to say it's quite the little combo, has amazing traction off road and I don't feel freaked out on the streets they do have a little longer break in time i feel for the street but not to much longer, you make your own line rather that it finding another and forcing you down that path major pro for a front tire

Excellent for a dual sport tire for DOT and off road.
I would recommend this tire. Predictable in all conditions on road and good in off road situations. Have had multiple sets on a variety of dual sport bikes and they have always given excellent longevity and predictability for an all around compromise road/off road tire.

Only choice is 90/90 21 54r but shop manual calls for 80/100 21 51p. How is this in relation to factory tire? Taller? Narrower?
A shopper on Feb 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The 90/90 21 is a metric size. It means the tire is 90mm wide(first number) and the second 90 is the "aspect ratio", stating the height is 90% of the width. An 80/100 implies the tire is 80mm wide and the height is 100% of the width. The 80/100 is narrower than the 90/90.
To me, the wider tire floats a bit better on sand and soft surfaces. The slightly narrower tire probably gives better bite on hard packed surfaces. The MT 21 is a great tire. I like the front much better than the T63 I use to run.

I always reserve the right to make a mistake. If I'm incorrect I kindly ask RMATV to remove my post. ☺
I know Pirelli MT21 front & Dunlop D606 rear make a great pair. In my experience IRC TR8 front & Kenda K772 rear is much better. Anyone else with same or similar views? I wish RM would carry these models as well. Please consider RM.

BEST ANSWER: I can’t give any feedback on the MT21 front but our experience with the D606’s F & R on our bikes (KTM 2-690’s, 500 exc) always served us well doing 2 UT & COBDR’s. We run them in a circle planning 11-12 days riding 2500 miles. The 606’s perform great in rain, mud, rocks, and Utah silt/sand.
