  • Shinko’s Hybrid Soft/Intermediate Terrain Enduro/Extreme single track trail tire finds traction in the most extreme conditions.
  • Wide self-cleaning tread design.
  • Best of both worlds, soft sticky rubber compounds like the Trail Pro trials tire in a knobby tread pattern to work in a wide variety of soil conditions.

So Far So Good
Good tire for the price. I normally use the M5B for the muddy stuff but this tire has similar traction and costs half as much. Tread life is not great but not terrible.

Climb up anything
This tire grips very well. Rubber material wears quickly but gives you great traction. Have ran this tire in Moab and all over Colorado, I would highly recommend.

Great tire option
Impressive! This has been great tire option for woods trails and technical riding. Paired with the tubless, the low PSI traction is unbelievable and I don't see the need to try anything in the higher price range.

Crazy good traction on rocks and hardback. Probably won’t last the longest but you can’t expect a gummy tire to last long. For the money can’t beat it.

Shinko 525 Cheater
It is hard to beat this tire when it comes down to the cost vs the performance it provides. I run this tire with Tubliss at 5-7lb and I feel like I can go anywhere in any condition. This tire boosts my confidence like no other. No more second guessing an off camber hill or getting caught spinning 3/4 the way up a wet hill climb. Cleans out very well in muddy conditions. This tire is a must try if you haven't already!

Love it for soft condition and roots.
Great tire for soft conditions with roots. The 505, or tusk recon is better for rocks. So depending on terrain I switch between these 2 tires. After 25 hours it’s wearing well. Easily will get another 15 hours from it.

This just might be the perfect kdx220 tire
So far this has been an amazing tire!! I have ridden some hard desert singletrack and its held up well. I previously tried the 505 and it held up for a long time with countless hrs. My only concern was it didnt perform well in the soft terrain... the 525 so far has been leaps and bounds better. Cant wait to see how she holds up over time. And hoping the snow melts so i can get her in the mountains!!

Is the 525 DOT approved?
A shopper on Apr 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I do not believe it is
I know the 505 cheater has a tendency to try to come around you on steep and loose downhills. Does the 525 cheater have this same problem?
Kelly V on Feb 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Never had a problem with cheater 505 coming out on steep hills I run tubliss at 5lbs I bought the 525 for Mud and deep sand where it shines more over the 505
How much height does the 525 raise the rear of the bike? Did you need to compensate for it?
A shopper on Mar 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You're thinking about this way too much lol... bikes comes stock with 110/100-18 ... that's 26.7" diameter... my 525 is a 120/100-18 ... that's a 27.4" diameter... 27.4 minus 26.7, you get .7" ... cut that in half for height difference (radius, not diameter) you get .35" ... I don't know about you but for me in not going to feel the extra .35" difference
How does the recon 120/100-18 compare in size to the shinko 525 120/100-18? My bike barely fits the 525 and i want to give the tusk a try,

BEST ANSWER: If you’re bike barely fits a 120 shinko 525, do not get the 120 recon, it’s about the width/height of most 140’, go with the 110, I wish I had.
My dear tire is 120/90/18. But the closest size I can find in the cheater tire is 120/100/18. Will this work or fit my rim? Any input is helpful. Thx.
Clarence L on May 13, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The number 100 is referring to the aspect ratio. Which means the height of the tire is equivalent to the width of the tire. I will double check that to make sure I’m not incorrect
What front tire do you use with shrink 525 rear?
A shopper on Oct 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I used Michelin s12 on front an it was a great combo, also the 525 is a good tire for single track an hill climbs.
Will the Shinko 525 Cheater 120/100-18 fit on my 2.15X18 rim? A 140/80-18 mich comes stock on my bike and I think this is the closest shinko 525 option, but I saw somewhere that the 525 120/100-18 is supposed to be on 2.5+ rim. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
A shopper on May 12, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it'll fit fine. I've mounted two of these tires on 2.15x18 rims. Matter of fact, I run only 120 width rear tires (Shinko, Goldentyre, Maxxis, Dunlop, Sedona, etc) and all the bikes I have owned had/have 2.15 rear rim width.
What is the overall width of the 110/100x18 tire?
Chris R on May 14, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The width is the first number in the size, so 110. Its in mm; to convert mm to inches, take 110mm divid by 24.5; gives you 4.331 inches wide.
I've seen this tire labeled as R525 and 525S. Is there a difference?
Dakota N on Aug 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yeah there is a difference, huge actually. The 525 is a soft to intermediate tire, designed for crawling over rocks. The 525S is a hard to intermediate tire, designed for open desert but still has a gummy tread.
