Eagle Mike drill thru subframe bolt upgrade!

Chris in MT – Machine this part was bought for: 2015 KAWASAKI KLR650

Comments On Mar 22, 2016:Ya, upgrade is right. Straightforward process. I was nervous about the drill shavings. Packed a lot of towels in and around the carb boot. No problems. A lot less intimidating when the bike takes a big hit. "Feels" tighter. Probably just a placebo. But it's working for me.

Oh my!

Jessica in WY – Machine this part was bought for: 1999 KAWASAKI KLR650

Comments On Feb 11, 2016:Read a ton of horror stories about the weak sub frame bolts and told myself "no way it happened to my bike too"... well as I was removing the lower bolts I noticed parts of the tips of each bolt snapped right off... about 1/8 inch off the left and almost a full 1/4 inch off the right side bolt! The upper bolts are slightly curved too :( So happy I got this sub frame bolt upgrade kit... my bike will be much safer for me to ride on the road with the help of Eagle Mike (or a good hardware store :) )

EM is always a good choice

Comments On Jan 04, 2016:Easy kit to use and install. If you're unsure how to do it, visit one of the KLR forums or ADV Rider for instructions. Use grease/lube when drilling!

Complete kit, worked well

Narottama in OR – Machine this part was bought for: 2007 KAWASAKI KLR650

Comments On Jul 02, 2014:The only special tool I needed to complete this install was a powerfully drill. I used the smaller of the bits to get the initial hole, it took over 10 minutes using a good amount of oil and patience. The larger bit went through much easier, and it's still holding strong so far. Will test it strength sometime this umber with a fully loaded off-road adventure.
This is a good complete, quality kit. A+

MUST GET!!!!!!!!!!!!!..

Shadrach in AR – Machine this part was bought for: 2009 KAWASAKI KLR650

Comments On Oct 26, 2013:I got the the kit because I do a lot of off road riding and let me tell you, it made a HUGE difference in the way the bike acts on the dirt. Upon installation I discovered that my OEM bolts were just about to give out, so I'm glad I did it when I did! Now my bike feels more solid, and I don't have the metal to metal banging sound in the subframe when hiting bumps in the road. This is a must get.

Good mod

Brian in MI

Comments On May 16, 2012:Kit came with good quality drill's, was not bad drilling through the frame with an 18V Dewalt drill and some cutting oil. Straightforward install.
