Quality of skid plate seems good. Way it installs is a pain in the rear and doesn't make any sense why they didn't use the OEM mounting holes. Going to make oil changes a pain getting this on and off.

I installed the AXP Touring skid plate on my 890 yesterday. First off...I didn't even realize I ordered the Touring option from Rocky Mountain...more so, I didn't have a clue as to what the difference might be. Secondly, you have to assemble it before you start mounting it...I am not sure why that is, as it doesn't change the shape or size for shipping...seems odd, considering the price tag. Anyway, install turned out to be a massive pain. The touring skid plate mounts differently from the adventure version. I had installed a different front sprocket guard (nice CNC) on my 890 and it interfered with the mounting point of the skid plate. I had to grind the chain slider (nice CNC) so there would be room for the aluminum mounting bracket. My guess it that the chain slider will wear out prematurely because of that, hope it doesn't fail). This will not be an issue for you if you are using the stock front sprocket guard. I wish I would have known... Unlike the adventure version, the touring version does not mount to the foot peg mounts...it strictly mounts to the engine cases. No attachment to the frame at all in the rear. On the brake side it bolts to the cat, if you don't have a cat they give you a work around for that. Bottom line for me, I'm too lazy to take it off and send it back, I will use it for now, but wanted to give you a heads up, if you are ordering the touring AXP, it will interfere with any aftermarket front chain guard. I wish it would mount via the foot peg bolts as it would seem to me that impacts would not be absorbed directly by the engine. We will see how it works...

AXP racing does an excellent job designing the light tough non alloy skid plates. Fit and finsh is great!

Even before I picked up my Honda CRF300 Rally I knew I wanted this rack. It has a nice OEM look to it that makes it look good on the bike, I already can't imagine the bike without this rack on there. I like that it is a plastic vs. metal because it seems more practical to me - not so prone to scratches, and it's not a flimsy plastic. I really like the size, it's about the perfect size for the Nelson Rigg Adventure size bag that I want to get. The handles are a big bonus, very convenient for picking up the bike.

well, didnt get it on a day too soon. Went out riding today and dropped her twice, the guard does great guarding the lower tank area. I really dont think you need bars with this skid plate on. Its a little pricey, but probably worth it.
