My small-framed 6-yr old daughter wanted to try dirt biking but I struggled to find something light enough for her to be proficient on. I almost ruined her older brother on dirt bikes by starting him on a bike that was way too heavy for him, and I knew she needed an ultra-light offering. The STACYC fits that bill perfectly. Really well-made and sturdy and as light as her Strider (balance bike). Brakes and chain are adjustable. Tires take air. Electrical is tight and clean. My only recommendation to STACYC would be a kickstand of some sort. If I were to find a "complaint" it would be how much torque this thing has... even on level 1, if a rookie grabs a handful of throttle off the starting line, this thing will really jump out from under you. The level/power settings only limit top speed, not torque/acceleration. For new inexperienced riders a torque adjustment like other electrics offer would be handy. BUT the torque is a positive for some... my 9 year old took it for a spin on level 3 and likes it more than his old Honda XR70 :-) . In the end, the extra torque has made my daughter a real master of throttle control... she's real intentional when it comes to where/how to get on the gas. Overall, love it! It's expensive... there are cheaper options, yes. But you really do get decent bang for your buck on this one.

The 12 E is too small, with the small 12 inch tires, short wheelbase and steep fork rake. The front would understeer too much, and was very jerky. Not ideal for a young beginner. Skip the 12 E and go with the 16E, which has much better handling. They otherwise have the same powertrains, batteries, etc. I rate the larger one 5 stars. The factory replica paint schemes are very pretty, worth the extra $$. Plan to buy extra batteries, they last only about 30-45 min.

So far the 12in hasn't had any issues, but the 16in has been a problem.

Purchased for my 3 year old last year for Christmas. She could ride in a straight line but it was a little too big. She turned 4 last month and now its just right. Start, stop, brakes, turns. Seems to be holding up well too! Dont have to worry about a gasoline engine and hot exhaust pipes. Shes wiped out a few times and it has been low drama. I imagine the same would not be had if burns were a risk.

This thing is AWESOME! Cant keep my son off it. Would love to see a longer lasting battery included but they are available for purchase through Stacyc. Would recommend for anyone wanting to help their kids take riding to the next level.
