The screen is awesome. Very bright in the sun. The software is poor. Many free Android apps are better than the software on this. 5 stars for the hardwared, 1 star for the software

Known to ride alone and if something happens, I am glad to have this SOS capability when there is no cell phone coverage. Friends and family can track me. Nice to have this added insurance!

I have used a Spot Gen2 for years. It was never 100% when it came to sending messages. I have used the InReach once on a 3 day ride and it worked really well. The Earthmate app for the iPhone was great, pair the InReach to your phone via Bluetooth, give it permission to your contacts and it makes texting via satellite simple. The Explore Map gives you an easy way to share your location with friends and family without having to do a thing on the road. Lastly, like that I can pause my subscription and then reactivate it. Potential money saver for less frequent fliers.

With a device like this, you need to know what to expect. First, the bad. It's a short but important list: the interface is clunky at first, the device has no wireless connectivity (everything must be transferred via USB), and loading free maps is a bit of a chore (though Garmin's paid maps are, of course, easy enough). Now for the things that I appreciate about the device: - The powered mount (GPS city .com SKU RAMB149ZAMONT) is awesome. The device clicks in and never budges, and because the charging is built into the mount, you never need to worry about destroying your charging ports via too much vibration. - Sunlight readable screen. You can read the screen no problem no matter how bright the day and from all reasonable angles -Free maps from www gpsfiledepot com cover most of the united states - support for KML files (georeferenced PDFs) -The device is RUGGED with a capital RUGGED. I ride in the desert in temps of 110F at times, and unlike the cell phones I've tried, the device has never once overheated or had any heat related issues. I've ridden through rainstorms with it, same deal. -Resistive touch screen so you can use it with ANY glove

Works great. Locks the gps in tight and includes hardware for mounting. Simple wiring as well

In a world of over priced adv motorcycle parts this thing is SO worth the $28. It comes with the bracket and all, super easy to install. AND it came with 3 anti-glare films for the GPS screen. Even comes with a tool to tighten the top so you can’t take off the GPS unless you have a small torque head. I was able to use the cable from my previous mount. Just make sure to thread wire under handlebar before attaching to mount, as mount won’t fit. I installed on my KTM 1090, fits well.
