    Not Quite What I Expected...

Comments On Jul 16, 2010:I had one of these previously, on a 2006 VTX 1300C, and it fit well and held up for 4 years of Arizona sunlight. I traded that bike for a 2008 VTX 1800F, and since I knew the old one wouldn't fit, I searched for quite a while to find one (doesn't seem like they make too much to fit the 1800F), and came upon this one that supposedly fits.
It can be made to work, but it's not the perfect fit for the '08 1800F. First off, it's a bit too long on the end that goes under the seat, basically interfering with the part of the seat that sits under the tank. I solved this by cutting a slit for the seat tongue to fit through before setting it under the tank. And then, once it's placed under the instrument cover on the top of the tank, the front straps appear to be a bit short, so they don't run all the way over the front end of the tank.
It still looks okay, and works well enough after a bit of modification, to keep it, but if/when it's time to replace it, I'll probably have to bite the bullet and spend the extra $40 to buy the Hondaline that's actually made to fit this specific bike.
