The best tool for exploration and adventure

This is the best addition to my bike in a long time. Most of my riding group got these. The navigation is amazing! The large, color screen is easy to see from any angle. The touchscreen makes it easy to figure out where you are trying to go by sliding the map around and zooming in and out easily. Track management is great being able to load a bunch of tracks and show/hide them as needed. And the best feature of all, Buddy Tracking! We haven't hit the range limit yet and we've gotten several miles separation so far. The lead rider can see how spread out everyone is and wait till the others are moving. I use the Beacon feature to gather everyone together, or stop the lead rider to wait. The Beacon is a really cool feature!

Good build quality but locks the unit in and big$$

I bought and returned this because it locks the TTvp onto the dock, which can be good or bad. For me it would be a pita every time I clean the bike (every ride) and the screws would probably end up loosening from constant use. Also, someone could unscrew the top pieces and take it, where you'd normally just unclip it and put it in your pack. lastly this thing is very expensive, a bit too much after spending $600 on the TTvp. Just so people are aware, this is a generic part, it is NOT bike specific. My 14 ktm 300xcw was not on the list but the mfg said it will fit anything. That should be corrected in the description, maybe more would buy it.

  • Spot X with Bluetooth Two-Way Satellite Messenger

    Brian in UT

Works as advertised, great peace of mind for myself...

The one star review from the person who cannot apply a simple firmware update is extremely unfair! Therefore I'd like to balance this out. I've been using Spot for many years and at first had frustrations with being locked into 1 year contracts for a device I only use in the summer. They have since fixed that and allow month-to-month which was my #1 complaint. The device has always worked great and done exactly as it's advertised. My family LOVES being able to see where I am on the online map and my wife greatly appreciates the nightly check-in to know I'm safe each night so she can sleep. I continue to use my Spot device (gen3) year after year going on my 4th year.
