After moving out of powersports technician work, off to use my Mechanical Engineering Technology BA degree, I bought this tool to supplement my extensive shop tools. After doing my regular job as an Engineer, I end up working on customer's unit as well as my own in my garage in the evenings and weekends.
I have two streetbikes of my own, snowbike (CR500), and the wife and two kids machines I maintain in addition to customers. As a 40 year old well trained/experienced mechanic and engineer I can say without a doubt this tool is GARBAGE! It will work well for some forks but for street bike forks it often cuts the seal during driving due to the small surface area of the plastic inserts. This typically happens for 42/43mm forks. Specifically a CB1000R and CBR1000RR. The latter on 4JUN2018.
I can't throw this in the garbage fast enough. In addition the inserts do NOT stay in place after having used them beyond 15-20 sets of fork legs.
I have 10 dirtbikes and all the forks are different sizes. Finally bought this tool and now I can have one tool for many applications. I have used it twice and worked great. Stores in a small box and cleanup is a breeze. Great product.
Very nice and well built tool. I have used this on 43 and 48 sized WP forks, and it works extremely well. The inserts are a very hard plastic. I saw no deflection or deformation during use, but nice in that they are not metal so no tube marring or scratching potential. Metal outer collar is nice and heavy. The metal collar does not snap together, so if you are not holding the tool, it will split. I didn't find this to be a problem, but thought I could use wire ties if needed to hold the shells together. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this tool.
