    Loud mouth for a 2007 Honda 450x
I bought this for a brand new to me 2007 450x after getting the valves checked. Dealer noticed I was getting dust passed my air filter.... I hated the stock 450x filter box I could never tell if the filter was seated ( I know I got flamed by reader on thumper talk for not being very handy) however, after installing the loudmouth... my bike ran better ( no more low grunt stalling in first gear) and it was super easy to maintain... air filter changes where a breeze.... it has a pipe style or dryer vent style hose clam that clamps around your purposely made air filter and over the opening for the loudmouth... no more dust no more worries... comes with a wash cover so I could pressure was the inside of my air box with no concerns... my only issue was the assembly... I found it difficult... called in a mechanic buddy of mine and he made it look easy... he did say the job would be easier if the gasket they sent was more rigid... so when you slipped it over the screws before putting on the loudmouth everything would stay in place... this will only make sense if you ever put one on... anyhow... best mod I've done to a dirt bike ever... not sure I could feel the extra HP... but I sure could tell a difference in first gear...

The product is very simple in design, once you figure it out , install is fairly easy. Filter assembly fits right onto neck of intake and clamps down with 5/16 nut driver on band.

    SHOULD BE MANDATORY
I tell everybody about these kits. I've been running them since I read their 5 star review from motocross action in 2009. Never had a problem sucking dirt and filter changes are hassle free. I noticed that I got more power on my Yamaha with this kit over my Honda and KTM, but the cool thing is that they now use the same filters. Performance or not, they make maintenance a breeze and the filter actually seals. I'm just surprised that these things aren't OEM yet. I'm a customer for life.

    Filter changes are a snap
Overall very pleased with the intake setup. Makes filter changes so much faster and no second guessing if you got the filter on correct or not. No chance of sand getting in with the clamp, oversized filter is a nice option. Installation was pretty quick pulled the rear sub frame off, used black RTV when installing. Install took maybe 20 minutes. Bike sounds better, seems to hit a little harder right off the bottom... Very pleased with it , would buy again..

    Great setup!
Makes filter maintenance so much easier. Bike sounds better, but can't really tell if there is any gain in performance. I do get a lot of hole shots for what ever that's worth. The neoprene gasket that comes with the kit doesn't work very well when used with silicon as recommended since it gets pushed out once everything is tightened down. I ended up just using Ultra Black RTV to seal it all up which worked very well and made for a nice clean install. Will probably buy again for my next CRF unless Honda improves their airbox design.

Awesome Idea Air Tight Fit Keeps out Sand
This is an awesome idea. Instead of the stock plastic unit with grease to keep it air tight this unit clamps over the rubber intake boot and clamps down which eliminates any chance of any dust, sand or water getting into the air. It uses a hose clamp to secure the special made air filter onto the unit.

I put these on my brand new bikes before I even ride them to avoid costly repairs if anything particles were to enter into the engine through the air box.

I didn't notice any power gains but changing the air filter is so much easier and faster now.

    Way overpriced
I bought this because of the clamp on filter design as I am always worried about installing teh air filter crooked. I installed it yesterday though haven't had a chance to ride it. I gotta say for $170... you don't get much. Cheap packaging, a piece of aluminum, a foam gasket, and some bolts and nuts. Not even like high quality nuts and bolts just standard nuts and bolts you get at lowes. I just feel kinda ripped off for the money they want for a piece of aluminum you'd expect them to go the extra mile in other areas.

Anyways it is a good design as far as filter installation and seal goes... it makes changes easier and eliminates uncertainty as far as air filter seal goes.

As far as performance... I don't see this adding any power. If anything I think it will rob some as it restricts the air boot opening probably 25%. They claim that it adds power by increasing velocity but basic physics/common sense shows that not changing the diameter of the intake boot and just choking down the end will not increase velocity through the boot/carb. It also doesn't make it a straighter shot it actually makes it less of a straight shot.

Overall... it was worth it to me simply for peace of mind regarding the air filter seal. The company does make questionable claims about their product which they are charging way too much for.

How much louder is the bike, will it pass the pro sound test? And where can you bye New filters?
    Thanks.
    Zak C on May 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: On my 05 crf250r I don't think it's any louder but it sure seems like there is alot more get up and go. As far as replacement filters you can get them off the loudmouth mx website. I don't regret buying this intake.
What is the HP gain? Not sure if anyone has actual dyno results to prove gain or no gain. Please advise if possible. Thanks.
    Shannon L on Jan 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Not sure about dyno results, but you can feel it when you ride. Crisper throttle response, better mid and top end. Easy to change the filter and better seal of the filter to keep the crud out of your engine.
