A must have for steering bearings
This tool is a small price to pay for the amount of time and frustration it saves when trying to remove an old steering brace. Highly recommended.

    Worked great !!!
This tool worked great. At first it seemed too large for the job but that is by design. That is so there is enough side pressure against the race to push it out of the triple crown. I was able to remove both races in less than a minute. I used this on a KTM 200 EXC.

    Park tool stearing race remover
This tool is a no brainier, it works. With this tool, 4 hits drove out the lower bearing race. No heat necessary. I then installed the lower race in to the upper position on accident. With this tool i was able to pop that race back out without damaging it.

Note: I wasted 3 days trying to remove that lower headset race using other methods. A hammer and punch, flat head screw driver, 2" diameter metal pipe, etc...with heat. Nothing can catch the edge of the race without slipping off. Just not enough edge exposed the bearing race.

    Easy and worked great.
Great, simple, effective. For my bike the race was easy to get to. It had enough of an edge to grab very solid, and out it came. Real simple

Tool is well made and the concept is fine, just does work on all bikes
Does not work on 2009 yz 250, so assume the same for 2005 - current., the problem is not the tool itself, problem there is no edge on the race for the tool to catch.

    Invest In Proper Tools
Just used this on my 09 YZ250 two stroke and it worked flawlessly. I have heard people having issues with this tool on the YZ's because you can't get much bite on the upper race. So I took my time and made sure the tool was seated on the race properly and a couple strikes later both races were out in under 5 minutes. Purchasing it has already paid for itself after one job. Highly recommend investing in this tool.

    Get this tool
Used the Park Tool on a 2009 YZ250. It literally took less than one minute to get the bearing races out. Should have bought this thing years ago. Can't speak about the longevity yet since I only used it once but feel like a good quality tool.

    Worthless for a KLR650
Bought this tool to attempt to remove steering head races on a Gen1 KLR 650.

It's completely useless. Doesn't reach the bottom bearing race AT ALL - there's a 3-4mm gap between the tool and the race.

The top race bites *maybe* half of the top race, but if you strike the tool with any significant force, it just pops off the bearing race. I beat on it for a half an hour and didn't even get 1/32" movement in the bearing race.

Maybe for other bikes, this works fine, but for a Gen 1 KLR 650 DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Perfect Tool for Removing Races from KTM 200 XC-W
I just used this tool to easily remove both races from the steering head of my 2008 KTM 200 XC-W. It took me less than a minute to remove both of them. Please watch the video from Rocky Mountain ATV on "How to Replace Steering Stem Bearings" that shows how to use this tool. I used the 1 1/2" - 2 3/16" size for my dirt bike.

    What size would I need for a 14 YZ250 2 stroke???
    James D on Jan 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Think I bought the larger one. I would not use this for the YZ. I have a 12 YZ250 and the aluminum frame has to small of a bore behind the race. This leaves to little material for this tool. Use a 12 tapered punch instead. For even better results grind a 12" punch a little shorter and grind to oval shape. Or buy a bearing race punch.mayhew makes one 14" long. Saves your knuckles.
Which size do I need for removing the race of a Husaberg fe450 2011?
    Juan H on Dec 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'm not familiar with your brand of bike. I purchased this tool for my son's Yamaha YZ85. It didn't suit my needs so I ended up returning it and having the triple clamp serviced at the local Yamaha dealer. Keep in mind you'll have to purchase a bearing installation tool as well. Price of both tools, bearing kit and your time--Or remove the triple clamp and have it serviced at your local dealer. Consider that when making your decision. Didn't really answer your question, but hope this helps with your decision.

    Kevin B on Dec 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have a Honda 450, I bought the big one, I'd would assume the little one is for mini bikes unless Kawasaki does something a lot different.
Will this work on a 2014 KTM 300XC? The bearing races have stops in the steering head, behind them that leaves precious little of the backside of the race exposed and usable to drive it out. Anyone have experience or reviews with this particular bike and using this particular tool?
    Michael N on Mar 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes that’s the exact bike I used it on. But it’s tricky to grab the race but going slow and a steady hand and it will grab then just whack it with a hammer.
