    The inner cartridge adapter...
Tool works well except for one thing - The inner cartridge adapter is a very snug fit, I had to use a rubber mallet to get it in and a vise to get it back out again. It could be much looser since it's not like this HUGE interface has any risk of rounding. Might need to grind it down a bit to be more convenient to use.

Outer wrench is perfect. Not so much inner cap.
The outer wrench works perfectly. Can't say much about the inner one. I made sure both the inner cap and tool was clean and they still didnt fit. To make it fit i had to sand down the inner hex tool to make it fit. Didnt that and it worked good.

    Did not fit without modification
The internal octagon of the wrench was too small to fit on the fork caps. The fork caps were not damaged and the tool measured under 49mm, so I blame the wrench for being too small. I had to file it to get it to fit.

The external hex that fits in the cap was too big. I tired to wire wheel it but it was still too big. Had to break out the angle grinder with a 3m pad on it, then wire wheel. Basically removing the machining marks and leaving a polished surface let it fit.

Pretty disappointed, I like the Tusk stuff I've bought in the past but this tool did not work for me. I would have returned it but I needed it now and didn't have time to exchange.

Good tools may need some filing of inner cartridge removal tool.
Tool is good quality and works as advertised. The tool to remove the inner cartridge is a little oversized and may require some filing in order to properly fit.

    Fits some, not others
I had one of these wrenches already for my 2005 yz250 forks. Seemed to fit those fine but would not work on my 07 yz450 forks. I purchased a new one specifically for the yz450 and that one also does not work.
The old one is too small to fit around the outer chamber and too small for the inner chamber.
The new one is too small for the outer chamber and too big for the inner chamber.
Same part number for both wrenches. Makes 0 sense.

I have air bleeders buttons on my fork caps. To use the fork cap tool I'll need remove them when I tighten down the cap to the damper assembly. My question is will I have a problem with oil trying to come out the air bleed or air getting in when I have them out reassembling the damper together. Or do I need to buy oem air bleed screws? Thanks
    Christopher K on Feb 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Air can go in and out of the tubes with the bleeders off, but that won't affect anything negatively as long as you take all weight off the fork. I assume you've done this already since you're taking it apart. Your forks may leak some oil if you tip them upside down and don't re install the bleeders (finger tight would work) but it won't damage anything.
Just curious if anyone else has scratched their damping rods with this tool? I noticed many of the online suspension videos use a separate, plastic tool which I assume would avoid this problem. Hopefully, in my case the marring is low enough on the rod to not be an issue.
    William M on Oct 14, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I have not had this issue. Provided you have the correct size and take your time you should not have a problem. Anytime you are dealing with metal on metal there is a risk of marring, especially with softer metals like aluminum.
According to Yamaha, the inner fork cap is 36 mm. You have the Tusk listed as 35 mm. Will this work?
