New for the year and at the top of Fox’s helmet line, the V3 Preest Helmet is a premium off-road helmet that houses the most advanced protection technology Fox has to offer—proving they’re serious about rider safety.
The new design still houses crucial traits that made the V3 so successful like a lightweight composite shell that has further reduced the helmet’s weight, 18 ventilation openings that flow large amounts of air, and the MIPS lining that greatly aids in reducing head trauma during impacts at oblique angles.
But Fox hasn’t rested on their laurels. The most important tech they’ve introduced into the V3 is the MVRS (Magnetic Visor Release System). This new tech allows the visor to make a clean, effortless breakaway during a crash—greatly reducing the chance your visor will catch on the ground and cause further injury.
The MVRS system eliminates all visor screws and instead uses several powerful magnets to attach the visor to the helmet. Fox has proven this attachment system holds up to roost and debris but still reliably releases during a crash. They’ve also increased the sizing options so you get four different shell sizes and four EPS sizes. With more accuracy in sizing, the most advanced safety features, and the build quality of Fox, the Fox Racing V3 Helmet becomes one of the best high-end, off-road helmet options available.

MVRS (Magnetic Visor Release System)
Traditional visors secure to the helmet using screws. The new Magnetic Visor Release System uses powerful magnets to attach the visor. This Fox-exclusive technology lets the visor stand up against roost but quickly release during a crash—giving MVRS an entirely new approach to managing rotational forces.
MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) is a specialized helmet safety technology that is now being used in the top tier of off road helmets in order to greatly lessen the chances of traumatic brain injury.
By integrating an engineered low-friction layer into the liner of the helmet, MIPS enables a relative sliding motion between the head and the helmet so angular and rotational impact forces are absorbed and deflected.
Since most head impacts occur at oblique and unpredictable angles, helmets with MIPS Technology are able to offer better protection than helmets without.
I really wanted a Fox V3 helmet. I measured my head and it is 22 inches. The chart says I would wear a small. (I wear a size 7 hat.) I almost did not get it off my head. So I ordered a Medium and could not stand to wear it longer than 5 minutes around the house. So I ordered a Large, I could wear it for as long as 30 minutes but still did not fill good. I ended up going with a different brand helmet. So warning order bigger than they say.
Great Helmet, but replacement Visor is not available
I love this helmet. Looks good, comfortable, and offers great protection. Just be aware that you can not get a replacement visor that matches. (Navy/Red) The second time I wore it, I took hard roost that actually took a chunk out of the front of the visor. I have been unable to find a replacement anywhere. So now I'm stuck riding with a damaged visor, or using a non-matching solid black visor. Not the end of the world, but disappointing to say the least.
Before purchasing I went to my local MX store to try on some of the top helmets on the market. Which included the V3, 6D ATR, Troy Lee Designs SE4, Bell Moto 9 Carbon, and Shoei. After that time consuming task I realized the Fox V3 was the helmet for me. If you have a round face like myself you should definitely try one on. Also, the magnetic break away visor was a huge plus. And I can’t forget to mention how soft the interior lining was.
Previously wore a Shoei VFX-W. Bought this helmet on closeout price. Not disappointed at all. Fit is good and comfortable. Finish is really nice as well. Visor sits firmly on helmet. I ride trails and haven't had the visor get smacked off. The center visor mount does make running a gopro underneath difficult but not impossible. Had a little fall, nothing bad. However, I definitely felt the MIPS liner do its job. Finish holds up pretty well. Didn't scratch up until I hit the ground. This is a good helmet even at full price. Will definitely purchase as my next helmet.
Absolutely love this helmet. I know people are concerned with the visor being magnetic that if you hit a tree limb or something it’s gonna be popping off constantly and become a hassle, that is not the case at all it is very durable even with the magnetic visor
