In the simplest terms, motorcycle helmets are built with a durable outer shell (made out of materials like fiberglass or carbon fiber) and an inner layer of EPS foam which cradles the skull. In an impact, the outer shell protects the rider’s head from abrasion and punctures, while the inner shell cushions the head against the impact. As a result, some accidents can occur that leave the helmet looking perfectly fine even though the inner foam has been compromised from the impact. Keep in mind that a new helmet will generally fit a little tight when you first put it on. Through the normal course of wear, the material will loosen. Super light and comfortable with a a great field of vision. Only gripe is it scratches easy. 1st ride was a muddy one and removing goggles multiple times during the day provided numerous scratches because of the strap. So immediately upon trying this helmet on, I decided this is one of the best looking helps out there, no argument. The snell rating was nice to see too. Everything was very well built and you could tell it was as you'd expect of handmade Japanese quality. Initially however, my complaint was the helmet felt just a bit too tight (I'm a medium). I tried a large at a local shop and realized it was definitely too big, so I went back home and wore the medium for an hour straight while I mowed the lawn (comfort/Wright test best also to see how it breathes in heat at low (aka zero) speed. I'm glad I did! The longer I wore it, the more comfortable it has become. After 20 minutes, the cushions formed perfectly to my head, and now I can take it on and off much more comfortably, and the fitment is 100% perfect. Maybe it was the wearing over time under compression, maybe the heat and sweat helped, IDK, but I can't wait to bring it to the woods with my Sur Ron and see how it breathes at speed!Read All Reviews
