Motocross Helmets

Motocross helmets provide the ultimate in off-road racing headgear. Designed for the rigors of motocross, these helmets appeal to everyone from professional racers to casual trail riders. Why? Quite simply, there’s no such thing as too much protection when it comes to your head – especially when you’re riding an off-road powerhouse.

So what really separates a high-end motocross helmet from the rest? Traditional helmet testing is held to strict standards, but it is wholly inadequate when considering the accidents that are faced in actual environments. While most helmets provide sufficient protection from direct impacts, most accidents actually involve an angular impact, resulting in rotational energy being transferred directly to the brain, leading to head trauma. High-end motocross helmets consider this in their engineering, helping to reduce to energy transfer to the brain by absorbing it using proven technology. Furthermore, when a helmet must be removed by emergency personnel after an accident, motocross helmets often have removable cheek pads to ease removal and reduce the likelihood of further injury.

But there is more to motocross helmets than listing off safety features or DOT/Snell certifications. The tightknit feeling that the MX community has established has created a unique flair and culture not duplicated anywhere else. As a result, these helmets display a visual appearance that blends the raw energy and refined focus characteristic of the sport.

Of course, everyone has their own style, and that’s why you’ll find literally hundreds of options to choose from. When it comes to motocross helmets, you’ve got to discover something that fits your personal expression as well as it fits your head. Will you find one here that fulfills both requirements? You can’t neglect the increased comfort built in motocross helmets. Demanded by the sport’s finest, these helmets are designed to improve airflow, keeping the helmet interior as cool as possible during long days at the track and through several motos. Today’s helmets are also often equipped with anti-bacterial lining to provide an odorless interior and comfortable fit.

    Make your buddies jealous!

O'neal has out done themselves with this one. This looks like a $500 dollar helmet! A little tight on the checks with good ventilation. Had to return it for a different size and Rocky Mountain's customer service was top notch! Received the new helmet in a couple of days with no problems.

    Great Helmet but,,,

I really like the fit and feel of this helmet. Only 4 stars because you need a special tool to adjust the visor and it's not included. It doesn't come with a spare visor, most do. Worst of all, Rocky Mtn. does not carry ANY spare parts for the helmet...

    Shweeeeeet Baby!

I'm very pleased with my helmet upgrade from my old light cheesy polycarbonate helmet. First thing I noticed when I took it out of the case it comes with was how much more heavier it was which tells me it wasn't chintzed on good materials. The main thing that drew me to this other than the fact I wanted the highest end helmet available was the MIPS and all the air flow you get. Plus I know that FOX gets motocross is a rough sport and they have the bests designs and this helmet shows their best work. The weight difference went unnoticed immediately and really never crossed my mined. Also I like the drylex liner because it seems to be very cushiony. Pair this helmet with their new goggs and your on your way to cool breezes with peace of mind.

    Awesome Lid

This is a great helmet and I would buy again, BUT there are a few things you should know before buying. Measure your head and look at Bells size chart before you buy. Just because you wear a large in one brand doesnt mean you will in Bell sizing. I had to go up a size. Also I wear the Giant Dragon NFX goggles and they are a tight fit in the eye port of this helmet and I wear a xxl so I doubt they would fit in a large/medium shell. The magnetic cheek pads are awesome and make washing a breeze. Also the helmet has great airflow. So much so if you ride in cold weather you will have to tape some of the vents shut. I bought the Infrared color and it is much more of an Orange color than what the pictures show but it is still a very nice looking helmet

    Too good to be true

To start, this is the same exact helmet as my brother's Fly brand helmet. Made in the same Chinese factory no doubt. The helmet looks great and I wanted to like it but: the visor distorts your vision, so Ive been using goggles. It has no easy way of removing the face shield, first you need to remove the visor, then remove screws to get the shield off, oh, and there are plastic washers that are easy to loose so don't plan on riding somewhere and then switching to goggles. Its really loud, waay too much wind noise, and its not aerodynamic so your head will get pushed around in the wind on the freeway. The visor is too small to be useful, and it doesn't drop down far enough to even see it while the helmet is on. It runs a size big, I'm normally a large but would need a medium in this, also the pads aren't very soft. I dont recommend it.
