Great tire hands down
I got 10K out of one front while going through 2 rears. The front still has tread depth to keep running, but is scalloping some on the edge of tread blocks and will be replaced out of prudence. They perform very well on pavement and twistys, good stopping power even when worn. Never had any front end niggles during a few pavement downpours. Offroad the performance depends entirely on the road surface, would be fine for good weather ADV use, but in mud or sand a loaded bike will struggle. Ran @ 33PSI

This tire saved me
Story: at about 3k on the tire. Warm twisty pavement in the mountains about 60 degrees. I was completing a text book pass on a open curve. Truck I was over taking missed the right hand contour of the road I was loosing half of my lane and did not know how much the truck was going to take. I had to brake hard leaned over.Braking leaned in a curve was smooth with this 15/85% tire. No wet traction experience with this tire other than a stream crossing. About 100 miles on dirt roads no issues for a 15/85% tire. I have worn .5mm off on the front in 4k. Tire will age out before I wear it out.

Put a set of these on my Ulysses last season. Awesome tire!
After mounting a set of these last season, my very first ride was in a downpour. They handled the wet extremely well. Since then I've put over 2K miles on them, mostly pavement with multiple off road excursions. Traction is good both on and off road, tire wear is decent, better than the Perelli Scorpion Trails they replaced, but not nearly as good as a touring tire. The heavy carcass is welcome when things get rocky. Overall a solid 80/20 tire.

Like it so far
2016 HONDA Africa Twin CRF1000L--

Can't tell a lot from only 300 miles or so, but these replaced some Motoz Tractionators that I don't want to wear out on the road. The tires mounted up pretty easily for doing this in the driveway, except for one spot on the front that would not seat. Took the front and rear to a local bike parts store to get spin balanced and they used tire lube to get it to seat. Balanced very easily. Turns in much quicker, of course. They are a little louder than the Dunlop Trailsmart tires that were stock. But I don't mind it, it's not bad at all. They lean well, and seem to have good grip. Only been on dry pavement, so far, but others say they are good in the wet.
If they last like a lot of others say, then great. If not, still a good deal.
Search earth-roamers blogspot for a really good test across Europe to Thailand. They say it all.

Avon Trailrider front
The tread is deep. The tires are great so far. They definitely ride rougher than my Dunlop Sportmax (street tire). I expect a long tread life. I'm riding a Versys 650 and I use it primarily on tarmac and bitumen, some hardpack, and some gravel.

Great tire
Definite difference over the stock Dunlop's. The Avon Trailrider's DO actually promote confidence in your riding. I was sceptical, but I could actually feel the difference in handling and traction.

For those of you that mounted this Avon Trail Rider tire on front of a Kaw Versys 650, did you have to raise the front fender? Thanks in advance.
RONALD L on Jan 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, didn't have to raise front fender at all. Ran them about 2,000 miles before selling bike... No problems
