Okay quality, but I'd suggest replacing with every tire change
The rubber seems to have a different feel than most tubes. Hard to describe, but generally less pliable. They seem to work okay, and I haven't had an issue with spoke nipples damaging tubes, but they do seem awful worn after one tire change.
The original rim tape on my bike is more plastic and doesn't want to stay centered over the nipples ends. This sits nicely where it should. The only things you have to modify is to put a hole in the strip where your locker comes through which is easy enough. Just put news strips, tubes, and tires on my bike and used this brand on front and back. Install went very smooth and as I stated earlier, it stays in the center valley over the spoke nipple ends which is where it should be.
I ordered a couple, one for the front, one for the back and they stunk. They smell like used motor oil with really bad chemicals. They smell so bad I’m not returning them. I put them in the trash already, where they belong.
The absolute bet rim strips made! They go on so smoothly. My only regret is that I waited so long to try this brand. My bike is so much faster, and has a much more “planted” feel (if that makes sense. Don’t ever get me started on traction. These things make my bike feel like it’s on rails made of Velcro. I feel like I’m cheating now. Also, I can’t believe the great price on these. I would have expected to pay way more... like $3 each or something. Overall, I’d give these things 5 1/2 stars if that was an option, but unfortunately Rocky Mountain limited me to five stars.
Works well. I've heard of people using duck tape on their rims, but I also hear that gets messy and sticky over time. This rim strip is a great value, is wide enough to protect the tube from the spokes, and installs super easily. I'd recommend this strip over duck tape. It'll save you from having to deal with gunky sticky rims.
