    Disappointing
Disappointed in this product. The inserts are soft aluminum. Not super durable. The installation method uses a jam nut. This is far inferior to the competitors that have an allen head cast into the insert.

    Tap worked great!
Found a set at local shop that had longer inserts and bolts so I didn’t end up using them. I’m sure they would have been fine. I did use the included tap which worked great!

    Easy to use
Bars were easy to tap and seems much stronger than the insert wedges.

Ok kit to secure bar wrap end
This kit comes with everything that you need except for threadlocker. Once you install these, you will probably leave them in the bars for the duration.

The tap was of reasonable quality. Just keep some light lube like WD40 on the threads and use a stout crescent wrench as a handle.

Blow the bar out and then clean the threads afterward.

Note that the tap is a little larger than the threads on the insert so the insert will have some play afterward. I used a lot of Red threadlocker because I never wanted this to come back out. I was sure to set the depth of the insert flush with the end of the bar before I let the threadlocker dry overnight.

When running the tap in, do yourself a favor and pay attention to how deep you are running the tap. I used a piece of tape on the tap to set depth, but overestimated and still ran it too deep. It will be better if you don't cut too deep so you can bottom the insert out on the threads rather than what I did which is to back the insert out and cover it in red threadlocker. The threadlocker seems to be holding it in place OK after a few rides.

A good solid mount for your guards
The install goes fairly easy. I used some cutting oil to ease the process, but cutting into aluminum is not hard. These provide a solid attachment point that shouldn't bend easily like the other inserts do. Time will tell.

Replace the stock bar end mounts
Replace the bar end mounts that come with handguards with this. The bars won’t turn on tip overs and stay in place and won’t back out. G2 ergonomics makes these with nylon inserts, but thinking the metal will hold up better.

Tap snapped half way through the first bar end.
Tap snapped half way through the first bar end. Yes I was using oil and going slow and backing out the shavings often. RM was awesome as always though, sent them a picture of the tap and they instantly gave me a gift card as a refund.

    Perfect for Bars
These inserts give your handle bars a nice clean look for installing hand guards. Tap worked great, easy installation, and overall great product.

Better way to mount hard guards
If you're prone to crashing (like my son is) you're probably constantly readjusting your hand guards. This product, along with the BRP Hand Guard mounts really eliminate that problem.

You could probably put this kit together on your own, but who really has time for that.

Really makes for a firm mounting point.

My only complaint is tapping the bars requires a fair amount of torque. I didn't use any lube to avoid contaminating the bar end and the loctite I planned on using. I also don't think you need to thread the bar as deeply as the instructions require, as the threaded insert didn't bottom-out firmly. Used a liberal amount of red loctite and let it cure for awhile.

How do you get these back out? I bent my bars and would like them in the new ones.
    Ian K on Aug 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hey, if the bars are garbage, I'd cut the bars off even with the insert, May take a few tries, then put the small peice with the insert into a vice and use the same method used to install them to screw the insert out.
