I bought this bike used and it had a huge hole in it from the air box. This one was smaller but I still had to mod the box. The reason I gave 4 stars is that K&N put this flyer in the box that claims how awesome this filter is and if a shop tells you not to buy it for any reason call K&N so they can set them straight. But.... It also said no warranty if the filter is being used in an ATV. So the filter comes with NO WARRANTY against craftsmanship if you use it in an ATV.
Machine this part was bought for: 2002 YAMAHA RAPTOR 660
Yeah, I bought this filter thinking it was a replacement filter for my Raptor. I got the product and clearly didn't fit. I called them asking which one I actually needed. The person on the phone told me which one I needed exactly and was very helpful in telling me I could return this product because it was unused "no problem/ no extra cost". I said lets wait till I get my new filter back so I can send the wrong one back in that box they sent it to me. He said that was no problem to just call in and say I need to return. So I called in about a week later to return. That person told me cause it was my fault I have to pay to return. Cheaper to keep the item and sell on ebay. Just telling people to "READ." Don't make the same mistake I did.
I had to modify my warrior. it was worth it though. I cut the stock screen for the filter off and got a 2 inch diameter pvc pipe about 4 inchies long and glued it to the inside of the stock piece that holds the filter in place with the cut off screen. clamp her on in place so that the filter lays on the support in the back of the air box and you're good to go. real easy and cheaper than buying the whole modquad system. wish I would have seen the k&N stock replacement one fist!!!
Filters my machine more that my stock one the one thing about it if you buy it for a yamaha warrior it does not fit in the air box. So you have to take off the hose on the air box and put it on the K&N Filter. But other than that it give you machine more power and over all performance.
The Instructions included were helpful and the billet plate provides a much nicer way to clamp the filter on. My only complaint was in order to use the K&N filter with it you must grind down or cut out part of the stock plastic airbox where the screw goes for the stock filter (this was on a 2007 Suzuki LTR 450, other models may not need airbox modification). You must do this in order to make it fit. It would be nice if you didn't have to do the modification, but it seals very well and is much better than the stock intake set-up.
