Great Tires
The Avon Roadmaster tire I just bought is replacing a worn-out one on the rear of my 1977 Yamaha XS650. I have been very happy with the original set.

Excellent, underrated tire
Have never used Avon tires before; I liked the looks of the tire and the tread design looked to be very well designed for rain, so decided to give it a try. Put the AM26 on my Honda Shadow RS, which is the sporty version of the Shadow with more ground clearance. VERY happy with the tire. Frankly, I was surprised: this tire met all my expectations for handling, etc., but the very pleasant surprise ws that it gives much better ride...absorbs small bumps very well for a bias ply tire. This is probably the best bias ply tire I have ever used in many years of riding. It is stable, tracks straight, has linear cornering characteristics and does not follow rain grooves. Can't comment on mileage yet, regardless, at this point I certainly would buy another one when the time comes.

Very good tire especially at Rocky Mountains price
I mounted these on stock rims on my 1984 Yamaha RZ350. I've just now got these tires scuffed in but they seem to hold well and were a huge upgrade from the tired old Yokohamas. I've not ridden on a wet road but I'd suspect they'll do well there to if I'm caught out in the rain.

Norton... A Modern alternative
These still look the part and fill out the guards (fenders) well with the grip and technology of a modern tyre.

Great tire.
Such a great tire. It is like I am glued to the ground. The wet weather performance was a worry for me but this wheel has shown no instability in the wet

Excellent Tires
I've used Avon Roadrider AM26's for several years on 4 different vintage bikes. The tires work great and I think they look just right too. I think they bridge the appearance gap between vintage tread patterns and modern sport tires perfectly. I will continue to buy AM26's as my tire of choice for my vintage fleet.

Upgrade for 2010 Thruxton Triumph Front Tire
I needed to get a new front tire for my 2010 Thurxton so after reading on triumph rat about what others had to say about replacing and going bigger I went with Avon Road Riders (110) best choice ever the front tire feel a little more stable going into turns. I also got the rear tire to match brands. Get yourself some new tubes heavy duty if possible I went with regular tubes(rear) because that was Rocky had in their inventory..ps Rocky has some of the best available prices plus free shipping I found.

best tires for your vintage rims
it's hard to find good tires for 18" wheels. these are soft, sticky, and durable. i feels good about throwing them into corners, and have been running them hard for about a year on my 75 rd350

can these tires be used on both the front and rear? I have an old bmw r75/5 that runs 100/90-19 ft and 110/90-18 rear. thanks
CHRIS C on Mar 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, they are an excellent choice for both front and rear. Very high performance tire. Quiet and do not follow rain grooves in the road. Although they are not a long lasting tire 3500-5000 miles rear, 8000-10000 miles front, they are incredibly sticky wet and dry. They are directional, so pay attention to the arrows.
