Leatt has revamped their off-road jacket lineup and the GPX 4.5 Light is the new entry-level option that stays affordable while outperforming almost every other light jacket at its price point thanks to a surprising amount of features. The base material of the 4.5 Light give it a leg up right out of the gate since it’s a four-way stretch, water-resistant fabric that’s very similar to the fabric used on some soft-shell casual jackets. And while that fabric gives the 4.5 Light plenty of mobility, high-denier fabrics increase the jacket’s durability at the shoulders and elbows.

The fit of the jacket is an athletic cut so you won’t deal with fabric flapping in the wind or bunching up, however it is still generous enough that you can easily wear a chest protector or full body armor underneath it. Leatt also makes the jacket neck brace compatible with the appropriate attachment points already on the jacket and a collar that can fit under or over a neck brace. The sleeves are pre-curved for easy positioning on the bike, but if it gets hot out, they can be removed entirely by simply zipping them off.

There’s more ventilation from two massive, zippered vents running up and down the chest, and those are paired with two smaller, zippered exhaust vents at the rear. Leatt tosses a handful of smaller features into the more detailed areas of the jacket, and when you look at it all together, the Leatt GPX 4.5 Light Jacket is one of the best jacket options for aggressive riding in spring and fall weather where temperatures can drastically change throughout the day.
