Great addition to the tool kit
Great shim kit!! Sizes are spot on!!! Local dealer has a Moose kit and the shins run small by almost .02

Just wish they would combine both kits so you could have a size every .02 instead or .04

    Great quality
This is a nice kit. Has every size I will ever need. All the new shims were very consistent with the measurements on the shim. They seem to hold up well with no complaints

    Try the Hot Cams
I purchased thinking they would be superior to Hot Cams, but when I compared them to individual Hot Cam shims I have purchased in the past, the Hot Cams appear to be a finer fabication. I'm sure they will work fine, but disappointed in appearance of quality.

Does a feeler gauge come with the shim kit ?
    A shopper on Sep 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, These shims are in .004 mm increments, from 1.74mm to 2.58mm. I also bought the complete set from "Hot cams" which come in 1.72mm to 2.60mm. the "Hot Cams" set even came with a tiny folding Jewelers loop to magnify the etched thickness markings. Buying both sets is the way to go, so I would have the sets of shims in .002mm increments. Having only a single set of shims would only allow for a .004 adjustment of in size. Consequently a 1 shim size adjustment in .004 increments would put you outside of the specified tolerance. My first valve clearance adjustment on my 2015 FE 501 Husky only required swapping in a new set of 2.20 shims as it had from the factory on both the Exhaust valves. The clearance had begun to check out to be a bit loose with a feeler gauge. 1 was reading a tight .017mm the other was a loose. 015mm clearance if I remember. The manual calls for .011 to .014. I believe. a bit loose on the exhaust is not a bad thing as the valve can release heat into the valves seat and thus into the cylinders head. Within reason of course. The factory shims had a witness mark from wear on the shims from the valves stem in the center of the shims. A set of .022 was too tight so a replacement set of 2.20 was all it really needed to get it back into specs. You may want to by Metric digital read out Vernier caliper while you are at it. save yourself the headache of converting. You can easily check the actual shims thickness this way. New ones are acid etch or laser marked. The used factory ones were not marked. So a reference of their thickness will give you a starting point, once they are taken out. I also bought the Performance tools, K&L digital caliper it reads metric or American in thousands of an inch. it just made it easier and for an additional 36 bucks or whatever it was it was worth every penny. all my other mics read American. Also many of todays feeler gauges are marked to read both Metric and American. Invest in the proper tools, get all the shims.
Does thos kit work with stage 2 hot cams for a 2006 crf450r?
    A shopper on Feb 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The shims dont touch the cam... so yes these are compatible with your bike.. Assuming its a shim and bucket . The shim sits between the valve stem and the bucket, the bucket is what rides the cam. It would be wise to watch the product video on How to shim valves..
