The clouds part and the angels sing

Comments On Mar 14, 2016:Over the past few years I have tried every sport tire available on my BMW K1200GT and FJR1300A. Handling and mileage are key for long distance riding ... two things that tend to be mutually exclusive. I have read all the hype on various tires and tried them ... most never live up to the praise and the insane amount of miles people claim to get out of a tire on a heavy sport touring bike. I can only imagine they are not riding at SPORT touring speeds on twisting roads. The Angel GT fronts have more even wear than any of their competitors - the edges do still wear out first for me, but no cupping or bumps/ridges at compound transitions. Consistent feel with quick, but not too quick, handling. The rear is a very predictable tire with excellent traction and good road feel. IT has more than once saved me from getting a little too aggressive on the throttle. I do believe I get better mileage out of the non-A spec tire, even on a heavily loaded FJR on spirited tours, but not by much. Both tires handle great and can last me up to 6000 miles of very exciting riding. Only caveat is that they can feel a little squirrel when cold, but heat up quickly.
There are my go to tire - and with 5 to 6 tire changes a year, I keep a set or two hanging around.

Excellent Feel and Grip, But Relatively Low Miles

Comments On Feb 19, 2016:The Angel GT's offer fantastic grip and feel. I can't attest to their performance in the wet, but for most of their life they always felt smooth and solid in the twisties. My only complaint is the total mileage that I was able to get out of a set (5400 miles). Though a very subjective issue, I bring it up here as at the time I purchased this tire it was being marketed for it's longevity as a Sport Touring Tire, and in this regard it didn't live up to the hype, as I've gotten longer life out of tires form the Michelin Pilot Road series. This is not to imply that the Angel GT's are a poor tire choice (far from it), only that if your looking for a long mileage sport touring tire, this isn't it. If however, you are looking for a good tire with excellent grip and feel, but more life than a more aggressive track oriented tire, then this is a solid choice.

    Good performing tire

Comments On Nov 06, 2015:I wore this tire out in 10 weeks (10,500) miles of riding this summer. It performed about equally as well as the Michelin Pilot Road 3 I had run last summer and cost about $30 less.

    Angel GT

Comments On Sep 01, 2015:I really like the Pirelli tires especially with all the promotions and discounts their offering this year. Very good handling tires, the turn in is good the ride is very good and with a little care I think that one could find himself getting 7000 miles out of these tires, the only thing that I did not like about the tires is the front tire does not hold its shape after about 4000 miles other than that I would recommend these tires

    The name says it all!

Comments On Nov 24, 2014:The Angel GT is a miraculous tire developed in a country notorious for slick winding mountain roads and highly skilled riders. They really nailed it with this tire. The compound stays very pliable when the temps drop and the tread pattern not only is the best looking tire on the market but provides excellent wet traction with its wide channels. Tire does extremely well in hot weather as well without increased wear.

Great tire that last a long time

Comments On Sep 24, 2014:best tires i have ran on my bike so far. i am running them on both front and rear. they take very little time to heat up. gives you great confidence in corners. they stick to the ground great and they last a very long time. i have about 4000 miles on them and the rear is just starting to show some wear. best bang for the buck!

    "They Best the Competition"

Comments On Sep 13, 2013:I ride a 730+ pound motorcycle to the limit. I have no chicken strips and have thoroughly ground down pegs - even when hanging off. These tires are the best tires out right now for the Sport Touring segment. I would wager they are the best street tires out there for a "do all" type of tire.
I've previously ran Michelin Pilot Road 3 and Bridgestone BT023GTs. I switched over to the Bridgestones because they had better ultimate grips levels and inspired more confidence in the twisties. I also got a warm and fussy feeling since they are OEM spec tires and they carry the "GT" rated tire for my odd ball 170/60/17 rear tire size. The Michelins had better tread life but they tended to slip a little out of corners. They had more flex than I cared for and you could feel them moving around on you. I, personally, don't prefer that feeling!
I would average about 3000-3500 miles out of a rear BT023GT and on the one set of PR3s I ran I got a bit over 6500 miles.
So far, these ANGEL GT tires have proven themselves to be more surefooted than the two models mentioned. I haven't had them in the rain but I can say they are VERY sticky when warmed up. So far, they are wearing like steel with over 3,000 miles on them. They aren't cupping and exhibiting weird wear like the others did and they seem to be about 50 percent worn on the sides, which I normally wear out first.
I recently put a pair on my 2010 Kawasaki Z1000. I'll be sure to post a review for those once I put a sufficient number of miles on...
