Cover falls off (fire power admitted to faulty product)
I experienced a similar problem with the cover falling off. I then contacted fire power directly and they admitted the product had a design flaw. They sent me a new one with Longer cover screws and the plastic where the screws were inserted appeared to be thicker. Once they fixed that it worked great. (third try....) Not sure if they have fixed this for all of them....
I purchased the first light for a replacement on my XR650, after installing it and testing all was well until the first good off road ride. The cover lens fell off, thought it was kind of strange but no point in worrying about it. After trying to find just the lens with no success, I went ahead and purchased another light assembly. Before installing it I checked the four screws that hold the lens on and found tow of them lose, trying to tighten them they stripped out the plastic cover with very little force! I ended up drilling through the lens and counter sinking to install long bolts with lock nuts to keep the lens on. It has worked well from this time on but be warned!
the tail light works well, wire that come with are extra long to splice anywhere you like, the fitment is NOT made to fit the factory indents, but no worries I just added some silcone caulk and sealed it up just nice.
Ok first the pros: cheap, looks good, direct fit for replacing your XR650L monstrosity of a taillight. Cons: the lens rattled off on the first one I put on, the bulb socket can't handle the added weight of an LED bulb, hardware is very low quality.
Overall it's what you get for a $13 taillight. Would gladly pay triple that if it were of decent quality.
