Good replacement windshield for early-model V-strom
I bought this windshield because I didn't like the little stub of an "adventure" wind screen that came with my used 2009 V-Strom 650. The Moose Racing windscreen has a very simple design compared to some of what's out there, but it does what I ask it to: it keeps freeway-velocity wind from killing my head. It is tall enough that I use it on the V-strom's lowest setting to get a little airflow to my helmet. No buffeting or turbulence. It has little (almost un-noticeable) cutouts on the sides that channel just enough air to my body that my jacket vents work perfectly. My only complaint is that I'd say it is a touch overpriced for what it is: just a simple sheet of polycarb without much design fanciness to it. Does look nice on the bike, tho!

    Great Windscreen
I installed this with a Nick Kostic dash riser and it works great.

    Does not work as described
Installed the Moose Windscreen on my 09 KLR, rode the bike for 60 miles, while riding I made some mental notes:

Does the Moose windscreen protect from the wind better than the stock windscreen ,no it does not

Does the Moose windscreen decrease the noise level, no it does not

Does the windscreen have noticeable buffeting reduction, no it does not

Does the windscreen come with hardware, no it does not

Im sure there is a better windscreen option out there, the Moose windscreen will not have considerable changes to your ride

    Good Moose
Install this wind scren in my two KLR 650 (2013 & 2014), just yesterday and two weeks ago. Rode for 5 hours and got under an ultra heavy rain, ... good wind deflection that protecs from rain, good high, good to look through with very litle distortion. The donw side, the rubber buffets that you have to change from original screen to the Moose screen to attach it to the bike, a pain. What is the cost if it comes all ready with the buffets install?

    inexpensive shield
I wanted a taller shield but they came with brackets and a much higher price. This one was +4" and pretty expensive. Sure enough it was noisier than stock although without too much buffeting. I wound up spending more on a MRA VARIO Sport Screen to clamp on the Moose screen and get the wind up and over. Live and learn.

    Not tall enough, easily scratched
Was excited to get this on my bike, but it disappointed. Granted, I'm a bit of a mutant (75" tall with a 30" inseam) but in order to get to the "quiet" zone I have to ride my KLR like it's a sport bike. I don't think this thing would really be tall enough even for an "average" tall man. Not recommended.

Even though I was pretty careful, it also managed to get a huge scratch during installation, and I don't recall doing anything that should have caused that.

Will this fit with a KLRdash rally dash? (2014)
    Teddy A on Oct 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I installed this with a KLR rally mount. It bolts up fine but if you run the mount in the most upright position the bottom edge of the windshield needs to be trimmed so it doesn't rub against the cowling. Good, strong shield, have had 1 pheasant at about 55 mph hit it and several rocks with no damage.
