This funnel is a great idea in theory but in practice it's a mess. The idea is that you put your oil in the hopper and dispense from there through the ball valve. There is a weird cover design but it kinds works. Once emptied then you close the valve and your hopper stays clean... Now the fun, the oil left in the system from the ball valve to the tip just runs out forever making a mess. Tusk makes a cap but it leaks as well.
This is an expensive funnel that in my option failed.
I thought since I was paying a premium and most motion pro tools are spot on that this would be the same. It was less than expected. The lid is a two piece system, the center handle pulls out of the lid very easily, the swivel on the funnel leaks and the on off knob is not smooth.
I just purchased this funnel and used it one time to change the oil in my YZ trans. It made the oil change super easy because I was able to measure and pour using the same container. No spills and no mess at all. It drained quickly and the on off valve worked great. I would recommend buying the black rubber tip also since it will drip a little once you are done. I would highly recommend.
So when i first saw these and watched the video on it i thought this is a great idea and could help me a lot with adding oil to my bikes. First time i use it i noticed the valve to open and close was real hard to turn, but the big issue i had was that this thing leaks and a lot. I had some left over oil and left it there and went to us it and there was oil all over the ground. So now I just use as a funnel.
Great tool. Makes oil changes much easier, cleaner, and precise. Can be a little awkard at times but turning the funnel and angling the neck around will get it where it needs to be. A bit pricey, but if you do maintenance like I do then it's invaluable in time saving. Quick clean up with brake cleaner and a few wipes.
This is a great product. This is best funnel I've ever used. Adding oil has never been so fast and easy. Yeah the lid is a little bit hard to get snapped into place, but not enough to make a difference or call it a bad product. Tusk makes a plug/cap for the bottom for a buck so the people writing bad reviews should've looked a little harder at the screen before ordering or watched the video. So much easier than a ratio rite and funnel that you have to hold in place and drains slow. JUST BUY ONE, YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID.
I expected a better funnel from Motion Pro. The lid pops off easily. More important, there is no lid or stopper for the bottom of the funnel. When you are done using it, it just pour whatever is left on the floor. bad design.
Very handy for when adding oil to a bike without a level of some sort. The gradients on the sides are nice. Only complaint, is that the lid will not stay on. If pushing it on gently, it will fall into the oil. Not really sure why there is even a lid for it, however, it would be great if it at least worked. Handy funnel, though. 5th start would be placed, if it weren't for the lid.
An easy way to simplify exact fluid changes. Only word of caution is that since there is no vacuum slowing release of the oil (like from a quart container) the flow is fast and continuous when valve is opened. For example, so much so that it could be faster than it can actually enter the side-case faster than the oil can flow around the clutch basket causing an overflow. Control the flow at the valve and it works like a champ.
Love it, with a couple small items -- first because of the design you cannot set it on a level surface to accurately measure oil out. You have to hold it and eye-ball the levels. Second, if you fill it up and then realize you aren't ready to pour the oil in, you have to figure out how to hang it on something without the oil spilling out.
Once you get those learning curve things out of the way, it's a great product that I use all the time now.
This funnel takes the guess work out of oil changes. The descriptions says it holds 1L but it only holds 800ML. Not a problem though. The lid is a great idea as is the magnet. Order the rubber cap for .99 to place on end of funnel tube to catch drips after use. This eliminates the need to buy quarters of oil.
