If you’ve worked on any type of coilover shock you know how difficult it can be to work with a spring under tension. Thankfully Motion Pro created their Shock Spring Compressor to give you an easy, safe way to release all the spring’s stored energy so you can get your shock apart for servicing.

The compressor works by attaching to the clevis/eyelet end of your shock, adjusting to the proper retainer size, and bracing itself against the spring. From there you’re free to run down the threaded rod and release the tension that’s keeping the spring retainer in place.

There will be plenty of room to reach in and remove the snap/retaining ring and remove the retainer, letting you keep on with the servicing and making a difficult job that much easier.

      Specs:
    • Safely removes the spring on most coilover shocks
    • Includes adapters for both clevis and eyelet type shocks
    • Adapter plates adjust to fit spring retaining collars from 56 mm to 96 mm
    • Innovative, compact, easy to use design
    • Low friction radial thrust bearing
    • Lifetime limited warranty

Safe and seems built good, just needs more range of sizes.
The first thing I used it for was to remove coils from a Yamaha blaster suspension. The “coil clamps” on the bottom didn’t close enough to hold the front shocks, but I kind of rigged it a little and it DID work. Then the adapter for the shock head is too narrow to hook up the rear shock. (haven’t rigged that one yet). All in all, once I customized it, it worked well and seems relatively safe. Wish there were more usable adapters and more adjustments in the “coil clamps”.

Great product at a reasonable price. Use it to change spring on a KTM 1090 rear shock.

    Get this and quit worrying!
Why mess around with homemade devices or ratchet straps? The tool takes all the worry out of removing a shock spring. No hooks to slip or damage the spring coils. I used this on a shock off a 550 pound ADV bike and it worked like a charm.
