OX Brake
Thought I would try to see if this would be a suitable alternative to a hydraulic LHRB. I have used a Hydraulic LHRB on another bike and unfortunately though I was not expecting the same performance I was hoping for at least some stopping power. I tried multiple adjustments etc but the amount of effort to try and apply any reliable breaking is no small "feet" I end up using the pedal to overcome the hand lever resistance.

Works ok while stopped to hold the bike without to much effort on a hill or rolling down the bike ramp but that is about it...so far that has been my experience. I need to play and see if I can get different hand /positions in terms of mounting may help...

Tusk could do it better
2 stars because this shouldn't cost so much for what it is. I didn't have many options and so I bought it. Maybe there isn't enough demand so the few they sell they have to charge so much for a bunch of bicycle brake parts.

Does work well though. Was missing the brake cable adjuster but I stole one off my old Specialized bike and it worked fine.

Installation could be easier. Why is the lever install a closed loop instead of come apart like every other lever on your handlebars? This means you have to take off your guard and grip to get this on. I use a lot of glue on my grips because I hate when they slip. This means I have to cut off my grip and replace every time. I have extra grips but still annoying. I figured out why though. The lever is made by another company that is fairly cheap.

Works great. Much more comfortable going down those steep switchbacks. Just wish there was another aftermarket competitor like Tusk that would make it easier to install and less expensive.

Ox Brake vs Rekluse
Bought both the OX brake and Rekluse. Rekluse is on my 2015 300XCW and the OX on 2013 250XCFW.

Pros
-Ox brake is much easier to install as you don't need to bleed
-Price

Cons
-The performance absolutely stinks, its a two finger brake at best, tends to stay engaged when you fully actuate the brake and want to get back on the gas
-Cable system is much easier to bang on rocks, wood bridges, and debris when riding single track. (The lever arm hangs down fully exposed to trail debris)

Overall, go Rekluse. Just purchased a brand new 2018 250XCF and have purchased my third rear hand brake, its Rekluse. The Rekluse has better 1 finger feel for those gnarly situations and you can really modulate the slip. All rear hand brakes are weak when comparing to the lockup power from your foot however the goal isn't to lockup the wheel in technical terrain.

Hope this helps as I am using the products.

A LOT of Money for What it is
Let's be honest - the steep price for a few bicycle parts (cable, housing and lever), two aluminum brackets and a hose clamp is a bit ridiculous.

Less than impressed
After using the oxbrake for a season I have d coded to write a review. I found it lacking in power. The leverage just wasn't there on my 2016 te300.

Because of the effort required to use it, I barely utilized what would potentially be a great tool for technical riding.

I will spend the additional and purchase a Rekluse hydraulic brake in the future.

Lastly the cable broke very shortly after use. I emailed oxbrake about purchasing a replacement. They didn't even take the time to respond.

Awesome
l love this piece as it is so simple to install. After my experience bleeding the Rekluse clutch, there was no way in heck I wanted to tackle the Rekluse LHB, so I went with this one. It is a bit mushy at the lever, but much less than a rear foot brake with a stiff boot on.

Works fine but lacks feel...
Easy to install and works just fine but I dont like the lack of feel it has. Its hard to explain but it basically feels mushy. Also I dont like how it jumps away from your hand when you hit the brake with your foot. Kind of wish I had spent the extra money and got the rekluse like my other bike has. Maybe it will just take some getting used to.

OX-Brake Left Hand Rear Brake Kit
Price was good, quality seems good and works well. Did take a little extra time to rout cable away from exhaust. I did drill a couple holes in plastic to rout cable (this was not recommended but it seems to work) Makes those steep downhill right turns a breeze.

Couldn’t I put the ox brake on the right side next to the front brake? Wouldn’t that work??
A shopper on Apr 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes you can. Lever will just be upside down.
I don’t like it on the right side as itlimits my brake control when I need to accelerate. And you really just use it in technical stuff.
Though there isn't a specific part # for the ox lh rear brake for a 2013 Husaberg TE250, will the 2013 KTM 250xcw brake model work?
Chris V on May 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The OX will work on your Husky I’m pretty certain. The way it attaches is pretty universal. Plus RM’s return policy is pretty easy if done in the allowable time.
$200 for a cable and 2 plastic levers???
A shopper on Oct 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yep, i view it as paying for the engineering also very high quality parts and easy to install. I am very happy with mine. I use it all the time especially on off camber down hills. I dont even have an auto clutch. To me it would be a must have for a bike equipped with an auto clutch.
I have a Midwest Engineering shorty clutch lever along w/ the slimmer Sicass Multi-Function Bar Switch on a 2018 KTM 500 EXC-F. Anyone know whether the Ox Brake will work with that set-up... I’m worried there may not be sufficient room for the Ox w/ the short Midwest lever?
Curtis J on Dec 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I just installed the OX-Brake on my 2019 KTM 2019 300 XC-W TPI. This installation is pretty straight forward. Please note that OX-Brake lever needed to reside right next to the clutch lever with little to no gap. This means all other components on the handle bar will need to be shifted in towards the center of the handle bar. Also, note that lever position between the clutch lever position and the new brake lever position is not ideal. Seems to be a compromise to making them both accessible with my clutch lever running to high and the brake lever being too low. I am not sure if this is help or not since we have different model KTMs.
